About the adventure

You: Curious about Daggerheart, the now fully released storytelling fantasy adventure game! It doesn't matter if you're a long time Critical Role fan or have literally never heard of the popular actual play series, we're checking out Daggerheart with fresh eyes! Check out the new hotness with a GM and game designer with decades of experience in both trad and storytelling games as we build the world as we go. And if you're gun-shy about games with a ton of improve and narrative decisions in the hands of the players as well as the GM, I also have decades of experience helping you feel comfortable creating your world. This is a one-shot learn to play, but if you love it, we can build out a campaign in this amazingly flexible game!

About me

I've been gaming and running games for over thirty years, and been a professional freelancer and indie designer for over twenty. (Sentences like this sometimes makes one question their life choices.) I also spent almost ten years teaching English as a second or foreign language from kindergartners to conversation seeking adults as well as for those who had professional needs. Classroom management is a little easier than herding cats, and that's just a little easier than GMing strangers, and I've got the chops for all three. (Ask me for pictures of my cats.) I'm a lover of all the wildest indie games out there, and I've written for a bunch of traditional games you know and love. Hit me up, whatever game you love, I might be able to run it for you. If you want an idea of how I run my own game, #iHunt, here's an actual play with the AMAZING crew of the Critshow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb9QudaBHls Hit me up, and let's get you gaming!

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll use pre-gen characters to get right into the game!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

If you have a mic and as stable internet connection, we can go from there. Cameras are great for roleplaying and to avoid talk-over, but optional for your comfort. You'll need a (free) Discord account, and I'll invite you to my Discord as we get started! We'll be lightly using an app within Discord to share a map and character tokens to clarify and track positioning and actions if your characters get into a tussle, but you don't have to know a single thing about it! As mentioned above, I'll provide pre written characters you can choose from so we can get into the adventure even faster!

What F Young brings to the table

With a background in teaching and improv, as well as decades of experience writing and designing a variety of roleplaying games, I may be a pretty good pick for learning while enjoying this game. It’s been a big part of both my hobbies and my professional experience for most of my life and I’m excited to share my joy and love for this hobby with you! I love improv, big choices, and the "rule of cool!"--when in doubt, go with the coolest/most fun answer! Which is all to say, the fun and the story matter most to me, as much as I respect the rules in the book and the story the dice tell!
