Hauntings of Los Angeles | Monster of the Week Campaign
Monster of the Week, Powered by the Apocalypse RPG | Campaign
About the adventure
Welcome to Los Angeles, the City of Angels. A city of glamours and secrets, where underneath the glimmering skyscrapers and palm-lined boulevards, remnants of ancient legends and myths whisper through the veil between worlds. For people in the know, supernatural influences have always affected the city and the citizens. Sometimes in malicious and nefarious ways. That’s where you come in, as paranormal investigators with a vested interest in keeping the city safe from evil machinations. Hi there, I'm Ani a.k.a. Anistuffs. I'm looking to start up a Monster of the Week campaign set in modern day Los Angeles. This will be a fairly typical Monster of the Week game, with a variety of paranormal threats in a long-spanning story arc filled with action, adventure, horror, tragedy, emotional drama, and moments of comedic relief.
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
No previous knowledge or experience is required. The game will start when there’s a minimum of 3 players. Character creation will be done in Session 1 with the whole group.

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Creativity
Rule of Cool
World Builder
Ani is a very flexible and cooperative GM who listens to feedback but also maintains a coherent direction and narrative. I have experience playing with him as GM in a StarWars themed version of Scum and Villainy, a system based off of Blades in the Dark, which is narrative and character behavior heavy. He has a good sense of humor and lets you have the space to realize the arc you want your character to have while also throwing appropriate curveballs and challenges at you without overwhelming you.
There’s never a dull moment in Ani's campaign. I love the characters he comes up with along with the world he builds. I have a ton of fun playing every week and get immersed in the storyline and the role-play. Works hard to make sure players get to add their flavor. He does a great job of challenging the players while still making the adventure fun and exciting. Listens to us and works with us. You can tell he’s out a lot of forethought and effort into our world and our characters. he's the GM I can confidently say I share the same braincell with.

What I provide
▶ A friendly gaming environment ▶ A Discord server ▶ A Roll20 game ▶ Monster of the Week resources, as required The campaign will be Theatre of the Mind assisted by reference images to set the scene and vibes. My goal is to provide a living, dynamic, and consistent world/setting that both responds to the Player Characters' actions and also continues existing without their interaction.
Gameplay details
After you sign up, I will reach out to you in Discord to have a one on one onboarding session 0 and go over the game expectations, safety tools used, content warnings, rules and mechanics for the game system, and anything else required. In session 1, the whole group will create their respective characters and then segue into the campaign’s story.
