About the adventure

This is a short, 4-session-long campaign. 🚨 BEACONS OF GLOOMDALE 🚨 Learn to Play Grimwild in a World Where Light is Dying — Newbies Welcome! The Beacons have fallen. Twin cities Misthaven (alchemical marvel) and Fodport (gritty industrial hub) teeter on collapse. Navigate deadly fog, panicked mobs, and lurking monstrosities — no experience needed. Uncover sabotage, outwit traps, and relight the Beacon. Will you save the world or become fog-fodder? What to Expect: ✨ Learn as You Play: Beginner-friendly guidance, simple rules, and zero judgment — just fun storytelling. 🎭 Roleplay-Driven Chaos: Memorable NPCs, player-driven choices, and your character shaping the environment. ⚔️ Tactical Survival: Creative combat, deadly fog mechanics, and consequences that bite. Rule-of-Cool rules here. 🔇Weaker pronunciation/Foreign slang. English is my second language. GM Style: Patient Teacher 📚 | Chaos Connoisseur 🌪️ For Players who are new to TTRPGs or veterans craving dramatic games, love teamwork and leaving a legacy. “The fog remembers. Will you?” Heroes (and curious first-timers) wanted — consent to adventure required! Game style

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Additional details

How to prepare

You will need a microphone and a Discord account. Webcams are optional. Computers/ Laptops are suggested over Mobile Phones, but the latter are still viable. You must create Characters or choose one of the Pre-Gens before Session 1. You are encouraged to read the rules ahead of time. When requested, a live voice session can be arranged to explain the Grimwild system or create/modify a new/existing character.

What I provide

I will share PDFs of the Grimwild V1.4 Core Rulebook and a Google Sheets Character Keeper (alongside Pre-Gens) with all players. I also own the Exploration Deck, Gaelenvale, and Nevermore Supplements, so you can expect additional rules to be used to liven the game up and pose more challenges to you. I'm also an avid content creator, so everyone feels free to charge at me with your crazy ideas, no need to hold back your wild Story beats. Expect me to have an open mindset yet be argumentative when we discuss how to achieve what you want with the fiction in consideration. I'll post reference images such as item art, character portraits, scenery, or maps into Discord if their presence will contribute to the game. I like to keep every NPC unique through their spins of distinctive traits, appearances, and/or habits. I hope you will like how I present NPCs. Hopefully, the same applies to every other interaction in my game. I have confidence in creating a story we can enjoy together, as such, I expect you all to come in with the same mindset and be active in rollplay and roleplay. Seeing we are all here to have fun, rules can and will be modified to suit the table's needs.

Gameplay details

There will be a Break halfway through each session. At other times, you are allowed to leave the table at will. I will not scrutinise the reason. However, a heads-up that you will be away will be highly appreciated. I will reflect on the game at the end of or between sessions. You are encouraged to participate in the debriefing and share your opinions. Session 1 starts immediately after a short Session 0. During Session 0, I will provide a game overview and focus on party dynamics.

How will character creation work

You will create a new Level 1 Character according to the Rules as Written (RAW) or modify one of the pre-generated Characters. You can use the provided Google Sheets Character Keeper or your Character Sheets. I expect Character Sheets to be completed before the first session starts. You can request my assistance anytime before game sessions.
