About the adventure
The fallen leaves tell a story. The Elden Ring was shattered. In our home, across the fog, the Lands Between. Elden Ring 5e is an epic dark fantasy campaign set in the world of From Software's award-winning roleplaying game. You will begin as a lowly Tarnished, the dead who yet live, following your own personal path towards the Elden Throne. We will use familiar D&D 5E mechanics with modest adjustments to create a unique gaming experience. The lore of Elden Ring is deliberately opaque. You must unravel the history and discover the personalities of this world as you explore. But this much is known: The Elden Ring was shattered. The one true god, Queen Marika the Eternal, has disappeared, leading to an apocalyptic war between her divine children which ended without a victor. The fate of the Lands Between is undecided. The Tarnished, long bereft of Grace, have returned from their long exile, imbued with Grace once more. Whoever claims the title of Elden Lord will write a new destiny for this world. Important distinctions from a typical 5e campaign: - No Artificer class. - Experience-based rather than milestone-based character advancement - Spell points instead of spell slots (see 2014 Dungeon Master's Guide) - Spells and magic items adapted from Elden Ring to supplement the D&D sourcebooks - No civilized areas, only dangerous wilds and ruins - An "Epic Path" system to weave your character's personal narrative through the non-traditional narrative of Elden Ring - PCs cannot permanently die Cover art by Khuyến Phạm Ngọc, used with permission. Game style
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

How to prepare
You will need a free account on Discord and Forge-VTT.com. You will also need to look over a free guide to the mechanics and systems which deviate from typical D&D 5R which I will provide for you.
What I provide
I will provide an immersive and expensive game world via Foundry VTT with art, battle maps, spells, items, monsters, and much more. I will also provide literally thousands of hours of experience running Dungeons & Dragons as well as hundreds of hours playing Elden Ring! My goal is to make this setting really come alive, but in a way that still feels interactive and narrative driven for my players. This campaign will be heavily focused on combat and exploration, but less so on roleplay. Regardless, I am going to be using an "epic path" system to ensure that your character has their own story and their own arcs playing out against this greater backdrop.
Gameplay details
We will go over lines and veils during session zero to establish what our limits are. Players are free to add to the lines or veils at any time. I will also instruct players on how to use a special X card feature of the foundry software. Finally, we will use stars and wishes at the end of each session to provide instant feedback to one another and help tailor the campaign to what the group enjoys most.

How will character creation work
We will begin the process of character creation as a group through chat on Discord, but we will finalize everything during session zero. You will be able to choose the base subclasses from Dungeons & Dragons 2014 or 2024, but you may need to tailor them slightly to fit the world of Elden Ring. You may also choose homebrew subclasses created specifically for Elden Ring 5E. I will also offer a list of subclasses from third party D&D creators which I think would fit well into the world of Elden Ring.
