Creating your character

🤺 Character Creation Character creation will take place before the campaign officially begins. I will work with you 1 on 1 to ensure you are ready to play when we start the campaign. We will cover: - Setting expectations and tone - Defining personal and group boundaries - Finalizing your character sheet - Weaving your Epic Path into the campaign and world at large. 📌 Important Details: - The campaign begins at 1st level - Ability Scores: Standard Array or Point Buy   🔗 Recommended tool: Point Buy Calculator ( https://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html ) - Character Sheet: We will build your character using the character sheet provided by Roll20 - Starting Equipment: Choose from class/background or take the average gold option ✅ Allowed Content: - All standard species, classes, and subclasses from the D&D 2024 rulebooks and UA playtests are allowed - A wide selection of custom species and subclasses I have created are allowed - Species and subclasses from the Odyssey of the Dragonlords setting ❌ Banned Content: - Species or subclasses from the 2014 version of the rules - Species or subclasses from 3rd party publishers 📝 Before Session 0: Players are encouraged to bring a character concept with a rough backstory and mechanical draft. This helps us tailor the session to fully integrate your character into the mythic tapestry of Thylea. ⚠️ Note: I will assist with rule interpretation and adjustments. Players are responsible for keeping their character sheets updated throughout the campaign. Preparing for the session

Familiarize yourself with your character’s concept and backstory ahead of sitting down with me to build your hero. While deep rulebook knowledge is not required — a basic understanding of your species traits and class features is appreciated! Whether you are new to D&D 5e or a seasoned adventurer, you will find a welcoming and exciting experience — with full support provided to make your character shine in the story.

What Brian G. (PonSquared) brings to the table

🎲 We will use Roll20 as the VTT and speak to each other in Discord. I am a very enthusiastic high-energy DM with many voices and a desire for everyone to be included and be spotlighted. I run Rules as Intended and allow for some Rule of Cool when appropriate. You can expect to feel heroic and have a good time! 🗺️ Maps are provided by the Dragonlords campaign, though I create or import a number of additional maps to round out the experience. ⭕ Token art for your character can be provided for you, or you can use your own. I design custom tokens to guarantee a distinctive visual identity for the players and monsters in the campaign. 🖼️ Players will receive plenty of visual handouts, and a Player’s Guide that covers the lore and history of Thylea 😎 My GM style balances deep narrative storytelling and deep tactical combats. I deliver rich descriptions of settings, character actions, and the impact of every key moment. During combat, I encourage smart tactics while giving space for cinematic narration. 👥 NPCs are brought to life with distinct voices and mannerisms, adding a dynamic and memorable layer to the story. I run truly player-driven narratives: I never force pre-written plots because I believe players are the true protagonists of the world. 🎵 Music and ambient sounds will further immerse you into the world of Thylea with a huge selection of tracks and sounds to cover every aspect of life on the continent. 💁🏻‍♂️ I offer continuous support outside of sessions for character building, world integration, rule clarifications, or any questions that may arise. 💖 I warmly welcome both newcomers and experienced players. Homebrew rules

I will provide a 2 page document on all of the custom rules I have created to make the play experience even better! Some changes are: 🃏 I use an inspiration deck which replaces standard Heroic Inspiration. Each of the 65 cards and counting can be used as a reroll or a unique effect specific to the card. 🎭 Multiclassing is not an option in this campaign. 📈 You never get less than average HP when you level, though you may get more!
