About the adventure
The Voiceless Archipelago is a tangled collection of islands, full of resources and treasure, but fraught with conflict. From the Sovereign Mariner's Guild, full of rich nobles looking to capitalize on the lush resources of the area, to the Freebooters' Brotherhood just looking to enjoy their lives on the open seas drinking, fishing, carousing and being a general menace to the other groups, especially the Guild. Then there's the Arcane Conclave, a group of mystics looking to protect and hoard all the magical secrets the islands hide, and the Wildwood Confederation, a group of tribes loosely allied together to survive and make a life for themselves amidst the conflicts of the isles. But feared most of all is The Covenant of the Depths, a group of Kraken worshiping pirates known to sacrifice their prisoners to Zoth'Kthun, the Kraken, for its favor and blessings. It is in the hands of the Covenant that our story begins. Having been ambushed by the pirates upon the high seas, you find yourself a prisoner of the Covenant, locked and chained in the hold with dozens of others given a simple promise...when the ship drops anchor next, you will be served as the next meal to Zoth'Kthun. Having escaped from the ship, and making it back to society, the party now begins to explore and find their place with a new ship throughout the Archipelago. This is a homebrew adventure set in an isolated continent of my homebrew world of Ibirath. We will be starting at level 3 and using the 2014 D&D ruleset.

About me
Hello, My name is Russell, aka DM Snugglybeast. I have always had a facination for a good story full of adventure. I have always loved the adventure, magic, exploration and discovery, and all things the imagination can create. I grew up reading the books of the Forgotten Realms, finding my first book crush with Cattie Brie in the Drizzt books, and experiencing all the awe that was the Dragonlance Chronicles and everyone's favorite anti-hero mage Raistlin Majere. I read of the adventures of Han and Luke in what is now Legends lore in the aftermath of Episode 6, the trials and struggles of Luke trying to start a new Jedi Academy and Han still running from his previous life of crime, and the many other adventures the crew had. These were the things I grew to love and the adventures I seek to provide my players. A brand new adventure, separate from the world around us, but all to real in our imaginations with characters that are brought to life by our own creativity and humor, and the pieces of ourselves that we give to them. Adventures full of danger, humor and the chaos that frequently ensues in these adventures. I have always found collaborative games much more fun than the competitive counterparts, and I have loved RPG's for a long as I can remember. I remember in 6th grade running a 1st gen Pokemon D&D style game for my friends at recess. Which is why when I decided to start a game night with my friends I chose D&D. I have been playing RPG's for about 20 years in various forms, and DMing D&D specifically for the past 3 years. I started with 1, which quickly became 3, and now I am the DM of The Masters of Mediocrity game on Twitch. I run both online and in person games for both sci-fi and Fantasy genera's. I have a Bachelor's of Arts in Music and have been in multiple local plays. I love Roleplaying and tend to favor it more in my campaigns. I have my own homebrew world I run my homebrew campaigns in, But I am happy to run a module if that is what you'd prefer. May the dice roll ever in your favor, and I look forward to seeing you at the game table!

Creating your character
Characters will be created on dndbeyond attached to a campaign of mine so you can access all of my added content into the site. Characters can be created at your convenience prior to the first session, and if you would prefer we can set up a time to chat and finalize characters and backstories to be ready for the first session. I do have a few prompts that will be listed in Discord for backstory creation. We will be using the 2014 ruleset for the game, I am ok with using some of the aspects of the 2024 content such as spells and feats, but if there is a legacy version of the content, we will be using that. Otherwise anything in my dndbeyond catalogue is good to use.
Starting at level 4, current party comp expectations are a Cleric, Artificer, and Rogue. We are using 2014 5e ruleset, but starting with a free feat at level 1.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A Mic is required, but a webcam is preferred. You will need internet access as well to access foundry at a link I will provide when we start playing, as well as to access their character sheets on dndbeyond. Foundry does not require any download as it is web based. I welcome my players to use their own dice if they have them (as long as they are honest with their rolls) or they can use the digital dice on dndbeyond or Foundry VTT.
What Russell brings to the table
I will bring dice if everyone is local and willing to play in person. However if we are playing remote, personal dice are welcome as long as you remain honest with the rolls, or you can use the digital dice in dndbeyond or Foundry VTT. I will provide in game handouts whether in person or digital. If we are playing in person, I will provide a Mini for each player they are welcome to keep when the campaign has ended, for digital games I will do my best to help players find a character art that fits their vision for their character. I also do voices for NPC's and use background music for better immersion.
Homebrew rules
I have several homebrew rules, all of which are explained in greater detail on my discord. These include: Rolling stats for a higher spread than point buy or standard array, gaining a +1 ASI when you pick a feat at feat levels, needing proficiency in a skill to provide help on a check with that skill, maximizing the second die on critical hits for more deadly critical hits, healing potions as a bonus action or action with each providing different healing, flanking, and swapping medicine and nature to Intelligence and Wisdom based skills respectively.

How Russell creates a safe table
This game will likely not be appropriate for players under 18. There will be strong aspects of fantasy violence, including the possibility of character death. Any sexual content will always be a fade to black. We will have a free session 0 where we will discuss any hard lines you might have as a player, and during that time we will also make sure your character and backstory is all set for the Session 1 and you are all set up on the VTT.
