When You're Here, You're Family: An Olive Garden "One-Shot"
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot
About the adventure
You are the knights of the Garden of Olives, sworn to protect the sanctity of the Holy Cloves. You are awoken early in the morning by the Sovrano with a terrible message: the Sacral Garlic has gone missing. She has an idea of the crime and the criminal, but you must be the ones to retrieve the Holy Garlic or risk the destruction of the Garden itself. This game will start at level 7, using almost entirely homebrew subclasses and a ton of silly spells like Italian Hands and Conjure Lasagna. We'll design your characters together to make this the most absurd and fun mini-campaign we possibly can.
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Sam is excellent with homebrewing and incorporating just about anything you'd like to do or try. They welcome chaos and ingenuity in their games They always made me feel welcome and went the extra mile to ensure their sessions went smoothly. They've built a discord community for their campaigns and hobbies that remains active between sessions and fosters relationship building. I've truly enjoyed their DM style and think them a wonderful person as a new DnD player.
First and foremost, Sam is an absolute gem and we've only just done character building. The way that they teach made it so easy to understand and I'm doubly excited to get started. There's a joy and a freedom to it that definitely makes me want to do more. Fantastic!!
Sam is a wonderful DM, welcoming, understanding and guiding for new players. Their world building and creativity in tying together groups of players is so phenomenal. They have a nice mix of role playing and dice rolls in their games, accepts suggestions from players, and lets players drive the sessions. Highly recommend!!
Though I haven't yet had the opportunity to play a game hosted by Sam, they went out of their way to help me as a new GM on this platform getting up and running. Seriously so kind and unexpected! I'm certain Sam goes above and beyond in the same manner, putting painstaking care and effort to make their campaigns just as special. Judging by the raving reviews I've read...that def seems to be the case. I hope to play a game with Sam soon!
Sam is awesome! A great teacher. Very passionate about gaming! I enjoy Sam’s campaign and look forward to joining more after this one concludes. Best part you can play how you want to( obviously with in reason) that doesn’t happen a lot with dnd or at least with my previous GMs it didn’t. The improvisational talents are one of the reasons I keep coming back week after week. They want you to have fun at the end of the session!

How to prepare
We’ll do everything together! Webcam is only necessary if you want to be on screen, which is an option but not required. You will need a mic, speaker, or headphones, Discord, and a working internet browser, but all else is prepared!
What I provide
I come with maps, minis, and an endless amount of snaking plot. In addition, I have an absurd amount of accents and voices, improv experience, and a well-honed D&D Beyond account. I've spent many years improving homebrew worlds for characters and players, and adore doing this. I'll likely make maps and homebrew content specifically for your adventure and also spend most of my time making TTRPG dice and custom character art. We’ll play Rule of Cool (as long as it doesn’t break the game) and all improved input and world-building is accepted and appreciated!
Gameplay details
Everyone will fill out a consent form prior to any gameplay, and I'll make sure that none of the ticked issues come up. I'll also send out a Session 0 sheet which we can all talk about together! Everyone is always welcome to leave a session if they're uncomfortable, and my DMs are always open for any issues or concerns. We also use a stoplight system where any player can send up a red, yellow, or green light to show that they are uncomfortable. Players can also message me privately. We will also do debrief and stars and wishes depending on the players' preferences.
