Mendev: The Pain Beyond the Wound - Homebrew PF2e
The Worldwound has been closed, yet the unsteady leave will not last long. Now is the time of dying gods and rising heros. Will Mendev endure?
About the adventure
It's been 10 years since the closing of the Worldwound during the Fifth Mendevian Crusade. What once was a massive rift in the fabric of reality that connected the mortal world of Golarion to the demon-infested Abyss has now become the Sarkorian Scar. The Scar is a massive network of craters, crevices, and old battlefields that was once the lands belonging to the Sarkorian people. However, between the ruins and destruction has sprung new life. Bright verdant pastures and newly-sprouted forests mark the impact of the commander of the Fifth Crusade, Laverna Sharan. The Commander was the one who inspired Mendev to begin the Fifth Crusade with her mythical powers that seemingly came from Elysium, and was instrumental in leading the armies of the mortal world against the terrors of the Abyss to the eventual closing of the Worldwound. But the Commander has disappeared following the end of the war, and Mendev is without a war to fight for the first time in over a century. Queen Galfrey led the nation throughout its many crusades, but has now ascended to become Iomadae's herald, leaving a woman named Irahai as chancellor of the recovering nation. Irahai has tried to rebuild the nation's economy from one focused on war to a more stable society, but has been met with difficulty at every turn. She has turned the country from a monarchy into a parliamentary democracy, yet the wealthy families of Mendev have disrupted her every attempt to take power away from the nation's long elite. Furthermore demons trapped in the Sarkorian Scar are a constant threat as they make every attempt to corrupt the nation that trapped them on Golarion. With most of the remaining crusaders having left to battle the Whispering Tyrant during the destruction of Lastwall, Mendev is left defenseless, in political turmoil, and without an identity to unite its people. You are a wanderer, a retired crusader, a Sarkorian refugee, or maybe just a Mendevian commoner that's found their way to the heart of the Fifth Crusade, Drezen. What once was the jewel of the North has only recently been resettled a decade ago during the Fifth crusade where it acted as a forward bastion into the Worldwound. Some of the greatest battles for Golarion were fought here, and now it's a shadow of its former self. A chipped and broken city that still bears the scars of battles from a decade ago. You may have come here for your own reasons, but you need money like many in Mendev now. Hoping to find a place to stay for the night and some work, you stop at a local tavern like you would on the many others stops along your journey. But fate has brought here you here for a reason, and soon you will find yourself in yet another battle for defense of Mendev.

About me
Hi! I'm Bweezy a professional DM. TTRPGS are my passion and there nothing I love more than creating an engaging experience for my players. I pride myself on providing a consistent, quality, immersive experience. I voice act my NPCs with a variety of accents and voices and encourage players to have a good time rping with each other. I also connect player backstories into my campaigns and really make awesome moments to remember. I love homebrew. I love customization and there's plenty of that in this game for you to enjoy. I've been using FoundryVTT since beta. I've loved the platform since. It's hard for me to switch back to Roll20 or trying any other platform. I've ran many games in the system and have played in many more. I'm skilled in navigating it throughout sessions and I keep the pace going past any technical difficulties. If your group prefers another platform, I'm similarly skilled in Roll20 and I'm familiar with Tabletop Simulator.

Bweezy is a special type of GM... and I am talking about the special type of GM that you hear mentioned when players talk about their "favorite D&D moments." In all seriousness, Bweezy is one of the best GMs and players I have had the privilege of playing D&D with. I think that his ability to host such memorable games comes down to his performance in three key areas: Immersion, Professionalism, and Consistency. Immersion: Through well-described narration, a variety of (good and bad) voices, and technical tricks (music, maps, tokens), Bweezy is easily able to transport players into his narrative. Furthermore, his attention to player-character stories allows for exciting interactions and character arcs. You no longer feel like a player experiencing a GM's story... you are part of the story. Professionalism: By acting respectful to all players, Bweezy is able to make everyone feel welcome at the table. If any issues occur within a game, expect him to handle it in the best light possible and in a timely manner. Consistency: One of the most underrated parts of GMing, Bweezy is remarkably consistent. I didn't really feel any sessions where "things were off." Being able to start an awesome story and keep the momentum going is a rare talent. Bweezy is a fantastic GM & Player. If you are new, experienced, or getting back into it, Bweezy is a great guy to go with!

How Bweezy creates a safe table
Mendev: The Pain Beyond the Wound is an adventure I've run in the past multiple times. The level to which this will run is somewhat depending on what the players do and how far they want to go, but expect to start at level 1 and reach around level 10-11 with opportunity to continue past the endpoint into other adventures if desired. (Minor Spoilers) Mendev: The Pain Beyond the Wound will focus on fighting a new undead threat that is threatening the nation of Mendev. In the first act of the campaign, the players will find themselves in the city of Drezen just before it comes under attack by a horde of undead. The players will have to fight their way to safety and work with the survivors of the attack to take back the city and find the source of the sudden attack. The first act along with later acts are dark, gritty, and require the players to make meaningful choices that will impact their chance of survival and the survival of the citizens of Drezen. The campaign will be somewhat combat and exploration focused with dramatic boss fights and seemingly hopeless battles against hordes of undead.
