About the adventure
What was your reason for accepting the invitation? The family is in debt? Are you running from a powerful enemy? You just yearn for adventure out in the world? Whatever your reasons, they were strong enough for you to accept a sudden invitation to meet with Grandmaster Thorn Van Millstone about “...a prime opportunity to earn fame, fortune, or friendship, depending on your tastes.” In this campaign the party will be working on the behalf of this new benefactor as he prepares for an expedition into the legendary Southern Continent, where many have traveled but very few have returned. In preparation, he’ll need you to travel to a variety of places, to gather very specific supplies for the journey. Explore the venerable city of Deepsink, the oldest known still-standing city on the continent of Corhyme, as well as venturing out to the famed “Strangements,” such as the magically-devastated Crater Plains, the explosive-gelatin waters of the Nastolt Sea, and even under the lifeless stretch of land known as Ashsoil. When the journey into the wilds of the Southern Continent finally happens, not only may you discover the ancient secret that guards the lands, but also the true reason for your invitation in the first place. This campaign is planned to run from levels 1-20, and the tone will be solidly in the adventure and exploration mode. There will be dark moments and maybe even hair-raising scenes, but those are balanced out by dozens of scenes for fun and light-hearted romps (e.g. a jaunt into a malfunctioning endless larder).
Game style
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

How to prepare
You will need an account on Roll20, an account on DnDBeyond, and an account on Discord. Webcams are not required, but you are welcome to use them. You can use real dice (we use the honor system) if you want, or the virtual dice in DnDBeyond.
What I provide
Master's Tier subscription on DnDBeyond, so you will have access to the Player's Handbook for free with your account. A Plus Roll20 membership, so lots of space for music, maps, and handouts. Over 30+ years of DMing experience; I make custom maps, custom art, and even custom sfx at times. I will do various voices for characters, have ambient music and sounds for a variety of settings, and even now and then pull off some tricks with layers in Roll20. Anything and everything to deepen the immersion and increase the fun.
Gameplay details
We will start with a Session Zero to craft your characters as a group, establish our Lines and Veils, and even get started provided we have enough time. Despite the Content Warnings, most games are not going to have any of those listed, but I included everything that might happen to give you a heads-up. Even then, we can talk more during Session 0 during the Lines and Veils items and make adjustments as the group desires. This game runs in the style of “epic cinematic” where I am more interested in the characters doing amazing things and sharing fantastic moments than getting too much into the gritty details. You can expect equal parts tactical combat, deep roleplaying moments, and a hefty dose of dry humor. Mysteries and puzzles abound, but I never make it so players have to spend hours just to figure out how to open a door. …usually. I also encourage players to be creative in combat: want to try and jump off a wall while shooting out the cord holding a chandelier in place to crash on your enemies? Go for it! We’ll roll some dice and then spin a tale based on the results. I tend to play Rules-As-Intended, but have no qualms about bending them if it makes for a better narrative moment.

How will character creation work
Characters will be made during Session Zero, but feel free to have an idea of what you want to build ahead of time. The characters will start at Level 1, and if you later decide you want to recon your character's history, let me know and we will work something out.
