Yannick is pretty much the only DM I've ever had so I have no reference. Still I think he's always done an amazing job. We've been travelling through his meticulously crafted world for multiple years. Our characters have grown through that time and Yannick puts in effort to connect the world to the character and the other way around. You have to be very flexible to pull it off like he does. That also shines through in 'regular' weekly sessions where perhaps we go completely off the plot through a chance roll and he rolls with it. If you are creative and want to use your characters in interesting ways, Yannick can make it work through his extensive knowledge and a perfect amount of goodwill, not too little not too much. In short: you'll travel through a world created by a person who really cares for it and its details, your characters will naturally be a part of this world and you'll be engaged every session.

When playing with Yannick you get a lot of creative freedom in how you solve difficult situations, he knows a lot about DnD and will likely always find a way to make your weird ideas work in game, like when I wanted to use ducttape to stop someone from chanting a spell. He also loves puzzles, they can be a bit complicated, but it is a fun way to diversify the game. He puts a lot of effort into world building and loves making beautiful maps to make his world come to life. Overall he is an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable DM, highly recommend! (And he does voices very well!)

I've been playing D&D for over 5 years and have regularly played with Yannick for over 2 of those years. I can say that those were some of the best campaigns and one-shots I have played. He provides a fun interactive world, many interesting roleplaying opportunities, fun and challenging encounters and an overall great experience. As long as you don't have a disdain for kobolds (pests) or a fear of puzzles, I can only recommend giving him a chance

Yannick is a fantastic DM. He always crafts great adventures and the world he makes and narrates feels alive and is fun to explore. Good grasp on the rules but a lot room to have some outside the box thinking with your player options if you have a fun or cool idea.

Yannick is a DM who allows for a lot of freedom. He has an amazing world to play in which I'm jealous of him being able to create. Fights can be challenging but he will always play fair. Genuinely never looked forward to sessions more in my life.

How to prepare

You need to make sure you have the following: - A tenth level character made using the 2024 dnd 5e rules, using point buy. - A discord account. (With a microphone, no webcam necessary) - Access to the roll20, which I will send to you on discord and the character set up in roll20. If you are not in the roll20 half an hour before the game starts you won't be able to play! If you need any help setting up feel free to send me a message!

What I provide

I have made several custom maps in Inkarnate for this oneshot that we will be using as a backdrops and battlemaps throughout the game. I will also be providing tokens for the pre-made characters and can make a token for you too before the game starts. I'll be providing a smooth roll20 experience, where I can help you click the right buttons on your character sheet and easily explain how the game works. We'll be playing in a discord server and listening to music using the "watch together" activity. Mainly the Bardify and Blue Turtle youtube channels, which I can highly recommend!

Gameplay details

I will ask you to fill out the Monte Cook RPG Consent list. Here you will find some things already fill in which I won't be including in the game either way and I will take the things you fill in into account also. There will be no sexual themes or children present in the game. Halfway through the game we'll take a quick break where you can shoot me a quick message or jump into a private call if you have any questions or concerns. Additionally you are free to send me X, N, & O's by sending me a direct message on discord at any point during the game.

How will character creation work

I will need you to make a level 10 DnD character with the 2024 rules. Subclasses that have not been adapted or integrated into the new edition are allowed with the exception of the twilight cleric. When an updated subclass or integrated subclass (such as the hexblade being integrated into invocations) exists I will need you to use the updated version. You must use point-buy for your stats. The character must be visible and usable in the roll20 at least 30 minutes before the game starts. At the start of the session we'll introduce the characters and then jump straight into the game.
