Defeat Cryovain the dragon of Icespire peak!

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

This will be a game for those of us new to roll20 and DND, myself included, running once a week. First session will be a zero session and free of charge to go over player and game master expectations and make everyone is okay with subject topics. Start of adventure is as described below: Driven from lands farther north by more powerful dragons, a young white dragon named Cryovain has descended upon the Sword Mountains, claiming the snow-capped range as its domain. Typical of its kind, Cryovain is dim-witted and cruel. The dragon patrols the skies around Icespire Peak, surveying its territory while hunting for food and easy treasure. With each passing day, the dragon’s domain grows as it ranges farther across the land, preying on anything it can catch with its claws or freeze to death with its icy breath. Sightings of the dragon are becoming more common, as are its attacks. Your job as adventurers and would be heroes is to find and slay this monstrous creature to rid the mining town of its ever growing menace. You will start off with small tasks and quests until strong enough to take on the dragon of Icespire Peak!

Game style

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

How to prepare

Microphone and computer will be needed. Applications needed will be roll20 and discord Players will be provided access to links for these programs once registered to the game. If not downloaded, you can reach out to me for directions on how to register and use the sites. Players should have some idea of what rules are, but we can go over rules in session zero. Character creation and token creation will also take place during this time. IF you're not comfortable coming up with a character on your own, I can help you through the process step by step, or I can design one to fit the gameplay.

What I provide

I am just starting out as both an online DM and voice actor, but have plenty of theater experience and real life experience as dungeon master. My voices may not always be consistent, but I will do my best to make it as fun as possible! I will also endeavor to make sure everyone has time to shine and a safe place to ask questions. I have a Roll 20 PRO account so you will have access to everything I have access to. My top priorities in the games I run are the enjoyment of the game. I also understand how real life can impact the game for you so I always encourage reaching out if issues come up impacting your game play or attendance. One more thing to note if you have gotten this far: Rules of Cool vs Rules as written in my games. i will typically adhere to rules as written for any major disputes or questions. HOWEVER, if you or the majority of the players are able to successfully convince me that what you're doing is really awesome and should be allowed, I will absolutely make that call.

Gameplay details

I will be going over lines and veils documents with all players involved. There will be a group one we can all agree on in session zero; I will also send out a link to each player whom can fill them out if they would rather not speak about it in group. ZERO SESSION will contain the following: Explain character building and spells to build a character of your design. Go over token selection. These tokens will represent your place on the maps that we run. Go over various safety tools. What could happen and be potentially triggering and what to do should that happens as well as make sure what needs to be strictly avoided Aftercare will be checking in with each of the players for stars and wishes and double checking on if trigger subjects were discussed, were they handled appropriately and what can we do to make sure it is correctly addressed.
