Dragons of Autumn - Beginner Friendly - Welcoming and Inclusive

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

In a world where the gods have withdrawn and there is no magical healing, being adventurers is not for the faint hearted! Your mismatched group has just started out; brash and brave, not lacking in courage but already feeling somewhat battered and rattled! You are about to be catapulted into the middle of world shaking events; war is coming to your quiet corner of the world and the gods may know what's coming but they're still not telling anyone!! This classic campaign is fast moving and very thematic, danger lurks around every corner. You play very much at a local, event by event level but the impact of your actions on the whole world soon become obvious. The players have the opportunity to grow and progress through a 3 book long, world spanning adventure (broken up with exciting milestones along the way).

Recruiting notes

If you want a fun romp through one of the most famous classic campaigns, this player focused campaign will include an introduction to the D&D World of Krynn and will ramp you into the setting and the rules **experienced players and beginners equally welcome** Characters will be starting from level 2 with an "intro" chapter to warm things up and get some experience under the belt (and familiarise new players with the setting). I decided to list more times and dates for this one because I've had quite a bit of demand for the campaign that's well underway - thought I might make another couple of slots available! Open and accepting table with shared storytelling at the forefront! I make every effort to provide a safe and welcoming environment and to host diverse and inclusive games. I'll be offering guided character generation or pre-generated character selections so there should be something to suit everyone. Priority is player experience over admin / system. This is a 5e campaign but I'll keep the ramp into rules specifics smooth so all levels can participate from the outset.

This Game Master is one of the coolest ones I've ever experienced! His game is extremely immersive, and how he sets things up with the maps is pretty awesome too! The voices he does are always cool and make me feel connected to the world around me. I cannot recommend this guy more than I already do!

I can't recommend Guy enough. He did a great job helping a number through using Roll 20 to play 5E. He was very patient and helped me overcome a lot of hurtles to play. The game itself was very well done. He knows the DM's craft to a T and really did a fine job bringing Krynn to life on the virtual tabletop with players scattered all over the place. If you get a chance to join one of his games then do it!

Guy is an exceptional GM that goes the extra mile to make gaming fun for the entire group. He’s creative and patient. I highly recommend him for anyone but especially newer gamers that need a more patient GM. Guy is great at what he does - providing in-depth background to the story, moving the narrative and sessions along at a pace that is both satisfying and intriguing. Outside of his role as GM, Guy also seems to be a genuinely good person, which makes sitting at his table all the more enjoyable.

Gameplay details

This is a campaign with a mix of tension and action. I'm planing for quite an RP heavy style. I will be making sure the pace fits the style of the players with a view to facilitating all experience levels. My style is relaxed and open with a focus on **safe fun** at the table allowing everyone to enjoy the adventure. My game table is a safe place for everyone and I will take any measures necessary to assure that. I like deep stories and challenging subject matter and Dragonlance does not disappoint there. I always ensure that we are aligned on boundaries up front (lines and veils defined in advance, session zero discussions to gauge the players' comfort zones etc) and I fully support breaks and "stops" at any time to assure players' safety and enjoyment. For me, character and roleplay should come before system. The rules should be used as a scaffold for the story and should give a framework to support the fun - they should not become the focal point of the adventure. I am a strong believer that we are all at the table to tell a story together and the role of the GM is to guide and facilitate the story of the characters with an underlying plot. Everyone should have their chance to shine and to collaborate in getting us all laughing or crying but at the same time everyone should be comfortable in taking a back seat occasionally to enjoy someone else's arc.

How will character creation work

Character creation will be incorporated into session zero and will be collaborative with the GM and players. Some players may want to carry over pre-generated characters from one shot "intro" scenario - this is fine but participation in the group character creation would be appreciated. Characters begin at level 3 and can progress up to 14/15th level by the end of the campaign. As this is War of The Lance campaign for Dragonlance there will be **no clerics** at the outset and creation of any class with divine / healing magics will be negotiated to assure a contextual fit with the setting... Re-Charactering (through death or retirement) / Multiclassing etc will all be supported throughout the campaign so no need to feel like you'll get stuck in a rut :)
