RJ is an AMAZING DM and an even more amazing storyteller! I was worried about how one-shots work compared to campaigns, but I had nothing to worry about. Had a great session filled with action and investigation—I even rolled two Nat 1s and a Nat 20, so I definitely got the full D&D experience! Highly recommend RJ if you're new like me or if you have tons of experience.

Just played a 4 hour one-shot and it was a lot of fun. Only two players and according to RJ with only minimal alterations to the base encounters. A rich setting and compelling NPCs.

10 stars if possible. This was my first experience with D&D 5e and RJ was great at helping me with the rules and how some actions worked. Everything is set up to be super convenient and before you know it, you're beginning your game. I never felt like I was holding anyone back and he made it real easy to slip into the RP of the game. It also helps that my group was amazing as well. Look forward to more sessions with him and my group.

How to prepare

For this session, you'll need the following: - Discord account - D&D Beyond account - A microphone or headset suitable for use on Discord (your phone can work for this if you have a quiet area to play) - A computer, laptop, tablet, or a combination of these capable of running both Discord and D&D Beyond simultaneously. - Webcams are optional We'll use a designated voice channel in my Discord server for communication during the session. I usually play with my webcam on since I talk with my hands, but you can play with or without one. Once you secure your spot in the game, you'll get the link to join my server. We'll use D&D Beyond Maps for our VTT. I understand that this is a new platform for many people. However, it's straightforward to use and runs easily on most computers. There's nothing to download for it, and I'll do an orientation to it in-game once it's relevant. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions as you prepare for the session. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

What I provide

- Full set of WOTC official sourcebooks on D&D Beyond - D&D Beyond Maps as the VTT - Discord channel for gameplay - A fun, dynamic, adaptive DM-style - Intense in-game challenges - A strong, evocative narrative style - Almost 30 years experience with D&D - A decade of experience DMing for D&D 5e

Gameplay details

*FYI: The "mutilation of corpses" refers to flesh golems, not scenes that depict active mutilation or the desecration of corpses. I'll start the session with mini-Session 0, where we'll go over the safety tools and how to use them.

How will character creation work

Please create a 3rd level character on D&D Beyond before the first session using the following guidelines: - 2024 rule set - Standard array or point buy for ability scores - Standard equipment or gold for equipment - No magic items (there's plenty for you to pick up during the adventure) - Feel free to use any official D&D sourcebooks for your character (no 3rd party content, please) After reserving your spot in the session, you'll have access to the D&D Beyond campaign link. Please either create your character through this link or add your character to the campaign at least 1 hour before the session starts. If you have any questions whatsoever about character creation, don't hesitate to contact me. I'm more than happy to help.
