The Edge of Darkness

The Edge of Darkness

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

What is morality? What separates the world of men from that of monsters? Sometimes the answer stops at free will, maybe it’s desperation, and at times it hinges on the best intentions. Occasionally men and women slip into the abyss, very few rise above it, and some never quite sink to the bottom. Ithillius is a mire, a land drenched in all manner of evil. Paragons of purity and good stare down the creatures that threaten to overwhelm them. Light cannot always overcome the darkness, and champions of both good and evil, infernal and angelic, and natural and unnatural means stand together to shale the future of the world. The many evils of the world have formed their own blasphemous kingdoms, darkly mirroring the civilizations of the mortal races. All of you find yourself in a difficult position, whether you resist or relent to the twisted shadows within yourself. Will you fight fire with fire or will you stand above the evil as a figure of mortal light? Ithillius uses traditional content from 5th Edition, along with 3rd party materials that allow players to not just pursue different avenues of power, but also different natures of it entirely that they can embrace. Becoming a champion of the Light, Darkness, or something in between is entirely possible.

How to prepare

Talespire and a Mic, and appropriate headset to hear mainly to avoid echoing. The rules are simple but plays should somewhat learn the basics to make the start worry free. 1 starting character and 2 backups should be made given the higher than average mortality rate of characters. Each takes 5-10 minutes.

What I provide

I personally enjoy using Talespire for the amount of content i can present players. I also provide the basis for making characters and using them relevantly based on the statistics of the miniatures used. Feel free to make a heroforge character or anything else for your own integration. I enjoy using ambience to help tell the tale and the occasional character voice. I also believe in a mix of using tactics to survive and the occasionall rule of cool ruling at the table. We want to have fun and I want to make a positive experience!

Gameplay details

All basics of safety tools will be discussed before hand and as necessary if it comes up. I have an after discussion each session to make sure in person everyone is ok and seek constructive criticism about the course of the game.

How will character creation work

Players will choose a class from the selected 12 and or start classless if that is their preference. All rolls will be made traditionally using Mork Borg rules 4 sets of 3d6 for class characters with applicable modifiers or 2 sets of 4d6 (drop lowest) and 2 sets of 3d6. Basic gear and abilities shall be rolled per custom. There isnt an exact leveling system in game, and this is dictated by DM approved milestones. Just message me before the game and I can explain and provide relevant materials.
