Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Homebrew Game | Campaign

About the adventure

The Land of Dreknaght, although filled with vibrant thriving wildlife and scenic sights and delights bears a sickening disease that plagues the residents and all those who make the mistake of traversing through these lands uninvited. Its forest, mountains, and far-stretching plains are riddled with spliced and god-mocking abominations that live for the sole purpose of causing as much chaos and suffering as possible. Meridian, known to the residents of the land as "The Last Bastion." Stands tall as their final beacon of hope as all other kingdoms in the land had either succumbed to madness, fled behind its walls, or worse...been captured and given a sickening fate. At the heart of this madness stems the coven of hags that are responsible for the land of Dreknaghts misery known as "The Splinted Crown" or "The Unholy Union" A trio housing a mother and her two daughters that despite normal hag behavior, all work together to cause as much wicked ambition and dismay as possible. Establishing themselves as the true tyrants of this land to satiate their hunger for chaos, but as the blood moon cycle comes to a close, humanity's last bastion of hope just might see its end as they prepare for the worst. Should the last bastion fall there's no telling what may happen to the people beyond this land nor those unaware of the abominations that lie within the borders of Dreknaght. Will you save this land from its horrendous disease or succumb to the madness many before you have done?

Game style

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare

You don't need a webcam although in my personal opinion cam is nice to watch people act out their actions and heart to certain situations but I understand that some are camera shy. Mic's are needed, no exceptions as it's our main form of communication in terms of actions and responses to the events unfolding in the campaign Currently using Roll20 for map, D&D Beyond maps and slowly getting into using Foundry, but still in the practice phase. As stated previously, having an account with Roll20 and DnD beyond not only makes it easier on me but also you, the player, as it makes it that much faster to progress with our story. I also recommend that those who make their sheets on DnD Beyond add the extension Beyond 20 to have access to their sheet on Roll20 but it is not necessary.

What I provide

You can expect the following things in my games - Virtual Table Top Maps (Created by me) -Virtual Table Top Maps (Purchased for usage of Campaign) - Ambient Music/Sound Effects - Token Creation - Rule of Cool - DnD Beyond Maps - Roll20 Map - Voice Acting - Cam (optional) - Check-in hours for questions

Gameplay details

Aftercare: After every session, I like to check in with my players before calling it a day and see how they are feeling and or if there is any concerns I can answer to their discomfort that they might be feeling at the time. This is to say that this does not only happen at the end as there will also be moments in the session itself where a player can voice their concerns to which I can adapt and or pause the session to consult the issue that one might be having. DnD is about fantasy roleplay and adventures, but having a safe space is always a priority in my groups that I put above all else to ensure everyone has an opportunity to enjoy themselves. Consent Sheets: The Consent sheets are available in my Discord server which each player who joins a campaign of mine must complete before session 1 of any of my games to ensure we're all on the same page and if there's a certain topic one dislikes, I can bring it to their attention at the beginning of each session with my general announcements or express the event that is occurring in a different manner that best caters to the players. X, N, O Cards: Since we will be playing this online and over camera as well as chat in discord I encourage my players to message me privately or in the open depending how comfortable they are to alert myself as to how close I may be coming towards a limit of theirs. Debriefing and Session 0: As I've said prior in the start of our sessions I will always alert the party of the events to come prior to our beginning, for instance if there's a scene where monstrous vines are to be capturing a player I will make it known that at the start there is a chance for restrictive movement, or if there's something in relation to an underwater cave system that there's a chance for deep bodies of water being present to alert the party of what is to come. A majority of what is to come will also be told in Session 0 where players will build their characters and listen in to the tales of the adventure they are about to embark on. All Session 0's are free as it is the starting point of all grand adventures to see if this is a fit group for them or simply not the campaign they envisioned.

How will character creation work

All Character creation and or related questions will be answered in Session 0, all that is asked is that you prepare yourself virtually by signing up on DnD Beyond and or Roll 20 and that if you have books of your own that I do not have you are more than welcome to use it so long as we go over the sheet at some point before sessions begin. That being said in terms of stat rolls you are always allowed to roll the lowest dice once to attempt to get a higher number. So if you rolled a 5, a 4, a 3, or a 2 you would reroll the 2 to get something higher. Upon joining, depending on how far in we are, you will be given an uncommon or rare item with your character of choice. Character sheets will contribute of 2014 character creation, with some 2024 options. Upon joining, please message me here or on Discord for the campaign link so that you can create said character with the available books that I have. Or if you have your own, please send it to me for review.
