Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi there! I’m Fergus (or just Ferg) I’m a game designer and GM with over 8 years of experience based in the UK. Games have always been a passion for me (I even have a degree in designing them!) and it is my joy to provide these experiences for others. TTRPGs specifically were introduced to me when I was 15 years old and since then have become an integral part of my life. It's important to me that my games are enjoyable for everyone at the table, while also being as safe and inclusive as possible. As such I have a zero tolerance policy for things like racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. both in and outside of games. My specialties are Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition and Pathfinder 2nd Edition, but I am always open to running new game systems! I hope to roll dice with you soon!

Sets the Mood
Ferg had an incredible way of telling intricate and well thought out stories. The characters he embodies truly come to life through his voice acting and fun unique quirks that he gives each of them. My personal favourite part are his combats and monsters. He always takes the time to pick the right music and create amazing interactive maps that aid in making the combat feel multidimensional. The monsters are even better because he never shies away from coming up with original flavoring for niche monsters. He puts a lot of time and effort into his games and you can feel the results of his efforts.
Character creation
Creating your character
Players will start at 1st level. While they don't need to create a character beforehand, they should come with a couple basic concepts for what they might want to play. Ability score generation and discussion of allowed sourcebooks will be done during session 0.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Player Preparation Players will need a microphone. Webcams are optional and their use will depend on the comfortability of the group as a whole. Accounts on Roll20 and Syrinscape if they dont already. Additionally players should join my Discord server, joining the relevant channels, and fill out the safety and consent checklist ASAP.
What ErgoFerg brings to the table
GM Style My focus in games is always to highlight the player characters. I want to give players the feeling that they really are the heroes of the story we're telling together. As part of this I love to give players ownership of how they are presented, asking how their character specifically does something. Yes you may be casting a spell, but how do YOU specifically cast that spell that may differ from others. I won’t pretend to be a rules encyclopedia, but I make sure to have a solid grasp of any system I run. My games usually stick pretty close to the rules, but I'm not afraid to break them for the sake of enjoyment or narrative. I also encourage players to think outside the box and negotiate with me to try wild ideas! Generally it's my aim to create a sandbox that gives players the freedom to do anything they set their minds to. I try to adapt my games to the character’s goals and actions. But I'm just as happy to create a linear adventure on rails with the players along for the ride (though I may still give you some opportunities to drive the train yourselves for a bit). _ _ _ _ _ _ What I Bring I own the full Waterdeep: Dragon Heist module on Roll20 which includes player handouts, tokens and battlemaps. Ambient music will also be provided via Syrinscape.

How ErgoFerg creates a safe table
Session 0 During Session 0 I will ask players about their experience and level of familiarty with both TTRPGs and D&D 5e. Then I will give a brief overview of what to expect from the game and we will discuss character creation, including sorting out ability scores. Additionally I will explain how to use the safety tools available during play. _ _ _ _ _ _ Safety Players will be asked to fill out a safety and consent checklist, which also details some of the common topics that are likely to come up as part of the adventure. They will also be able to add any additional topics that fall under their Hard lines and Veils at the end of the checklist. X and rewind cards will be available by a deck on Roll20. _ _ _ _ _ _ Additional info Games will always include a break of at least 10 minutes around the halfway point.
