The Aethyrblood Chronicles: Strangeness on the Inside

The Aethyrblood Chronicles | Campaign

About the adventure

Join us in exploring the cosmos of the world where everyday people can have phenomenal cosmic powers. Think about what it is like to have super strength, flight, invulnerability, and so much more! But there is a catch: your powers comes at the cost of being connected to the Agnati, a cosmic intelligence that is beyond your understanding, demanding one tenant to be held above all else - the Covenant. Your covenant can be anything, from killing other Aethyrs that break their own Covenants to not wearing the colour pink... Other than that, you can do whatever you like with your powers. Do good. Do bad. But do something - it's in your blood. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a second playtest, Beta opportunity to work with an independent game developer. The game is already on sale in it's First Edition form. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In this game, "Strangeness on the Inside", you will travel to various alternate dimensions to come to understand that which most never will... that the Omniverse is a great and terrible place with myriad forms of life and things other than what we can understand! The possibilities are endless! And all you have to do is sign up....

Game style

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Dungeon Crawl

A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!

Eiric creates a world with a huge sense of scale and depth. He rewards his players for clever tactics in combat and imaginative role play which encourages people to fully immerse themselves in his world. As a beginner, playing with Eiric has been ideal as he has helped me learn game mechanics and has solved any technical bugs I have had as I get to grips with D&D and the technology required to play role playing games online.

I've played a couple of sessions so far with Eiric and he's been tremendous. Had a fun time. As a first time player in Numenera, he made it easy to learn and play at his table.

He's prepared, conscientious, and has an old school "for the love of the game" quality. I couldn't be more satisfied.

I loved playing with Eric! The story was always super enjoyable and the allowance of fun roleplay was great! Very helpful and knowledgeable and great for beginners or those returning to the game after a long time. I always had a lot of fun and looked forward to each session. Also very respectful of boundaries and understanding towards limitations. Eric was always very kind and patient, willing to explain anything or help out to the best of his ability. I would definitely join another game hosted by him! 100/10 would recommend.

Phenomenal GM/Narrator. Created a wonderful experience. Made a fun environment to play in. He gave us opportunity to play the characters, share in the story building, and make us feel a part of the story and relate to the NPCs we got to interact with.

Additional details

How to prepare

You will need a (free) Discord and Roll20.net account. The links will be provided to you once you join the campaign. You will also need to download the core rule book from DrivethruRPG.com at the following link: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/364098/the-aethyrblood-chronicles-core-rule-book

What I provide

For starters, I wrote the game! You will not find anyone who knows the game more than myself. I also use the Rules as Written, because I and my many playtesters think the rules are pretty cool as they are. Despite this, I do reward my players for creative thought and action, as well as excellent role-play. I try to utilise unique voices and accents for my NPCs, and whenever possible, I use music.

Gameplay details

Session Zero will be used to create characters. During this process, expect two to three hours. Not due to complexity, but due to the sheer number of options. Unless you look over the process before we actually create characters, you will take more time simply due to not being familiar with the options. Just so you know, there are three types of powers: Arcana (the most powerful), Attentions (focused on one element), and Methods (one-trick ponies). You can begin with up to three Arcana, two Attentions, and five Methods. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- We will take breaks at roughly the mid-point of every session. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I call Stars and Wishes "Rose, Bud, Thorn", where in a Rose is one thing you enjoyed about a session, Bud is one thing you are looking forward to, and Thorn is one thing you did not like. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Open Door Policy is not only so that players can come and go as they need to or see fit, without need for explanation, but also so that players should feel free to come and ask questions or air grievances without being singled out in public forum and that all concerns will be dealt with in a timely manner.
