Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot
About the adventure
Blood and Rum: Curse of the Drunk Octopus is a thrilling 18th-century one-shot adventure for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, set in Limithron's Dark Caribbean. The party is hired by a renowned English scholar to recover a stolen, one-of-a-kind tome detailing ancient sea creatures. Their journey takes them across the Atlantic to Port Royal, Jamaica, where they must pick up the trail of a missing group of adventurers who mysteriously vanished while on the same mission months ago. Their arrival is anything but smooth—pirates attack their transport ship before they even set foot on shore. Once in Port Royal, they navigate seedy rum bars and shadowy alleys to uncover the truth, leading them to the estate of Sir Thomas Whitaker, a former governor with a passion for rare books and a past riddled with secrets. As they dig deeper, they uncover a hidden cult working to awaken an ancient horror lurking beneath the waves. The adventure is a high-stakes mix of swashbuckling action, supernatural horror, and mystery, featuring ship battles, eldritch conspiracies, and a race against time to stop a dark ritual before it dooms the Caribbean. Will the party recover the stolen book and prevent the return of an ancient evil, or will they find themselves lost to the depths, like so many before them? This game features: ⚓ High-seas adventure & pirate battles 🗺️ Exploration of Port Royal & its secrets 🎭 Intrigue, roleplaying, and mystery 🦑 A battle against an ancient oceanic horror Grab your cutlass, ready your spells, and prepare to set sail—danger and dark waters await!

Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Lets just say in a veteran GM and player and Ken did not disappoint. Ken puts a lot of time and effort in to his games and also the networking behind it. He was GM for a Monster of the Week game and right from the start added some visual aid and nice links between the characters to build a back story without getting bogged down into it. What stands out his his enthusiasm and people/listening skills. I could tell he was enjoying the game as much as the players and was moving and moulding with the story rather that putting up barriers or putting us up against creatures beyond our power. The roles didn't go great but that's not down to ken, but he rolled with it well(excuse the pun). If you have clicked on Ken's GM profile, then what are you waiting for message him and find out if you can involved with his games.
