About the adventure

A streamlined mini-campaign geared to tell a story throughout its sessions but keeping to shorter sessions for flexibility allows players to join and drop from session to session with minimal impact on the narrative. West Marches campaign, players spearhead exploration in an untamed wilderness, navigating an open-world sandbox teeming with dungeons, mysteries, and diverse locales. Numerous players form ever-changing parties, sharing discovered lore and information about the vast, uncharted territory while using a central town as a home base for planning, resting, and resupplying. The dynamic world evolves irrespective of player actions, featuring emergent storytelling, high-risk encounters, and lucrative treasures in an environment where scheduling flexibility reigns supreme. It's an adventure-driven landscape focused on discovery, unpredictable challenges, and collaborative exploration between player groups. Prelude: " Adventurers, within the tapestry of Qest's missions, we stand at the threshold of reclaiming SwordBreak, a city veiled in mystery. Under Qest Inc.'s contracts, each of you plays a pivotal role in this unfolding saga, where every step reshapes the realm and echoes through not-so-ancient ruins. As contracted agents, your destinies are intertwined within the quests laid before you, where time is a precious currency and consequences ripple across SwordBreak. Prepare yourselves for the challenges ahead; our journey is a balance between the unpredictable and the unforeseen. One of you holds a Red Flare, a beacon signaling Qest's assistance, and additional supplies await at the Qest Merchants, albeit some may be limited. Equip wisely, for the road demands more than what meets the eye. Qest Inc, offers many offerings of course at a modest price. Now, let the whispers of the unknown guide our steps as we embark on this expedition. Together, we shall honor our contracts, explore the enigmas of SwordBreak, and shape the destiny of this city. Our saga awaits. Let us journey forth, united in purpose and resolve. ".

Game style

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Dungeon Crawl

A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!

How to prepare

A lightweight PDF is available for more general world lore. While Qest Marches is more focused inward on quick flexible sessions. Character creation should also be simple and a huge background isn't required. While optional for characters it's not generally recommended for this line of campaign. Discord will be the main form of communication while foundry will be the VTT and all of the post character handling outside of leveling up. Discord holds the common house rules and character creation guidelines in detail. *Race restrictions*: Giff (everything else is playable) *Stat points*: Point buy *HP*: Fixed *Feats*: Free Tough Feat at level 1. *Homebrew*: Nothing on character creation but after the first session we can discuss (Character Re-rolls included) *Items*: 2 uncommon 1 rare *Gold*: 500 gold + background - Purchasing Items on Character Creation: is not allowed for Qest marches - Purchasing items from in-game vendors is always available.
