Destroyer of Worlds: Be Colonial Marines!

Destroyer of Worlds: Be Colonial Marines!

Alien: The Roleplaying Game | Campaign

About the adventure

Join us for Alien the Roleplaying Game, a game of sci-fi horror. You are the few, the proud, the marines: Five colonial marines, the best at what you do. You've been sent to Ariarcus, a cold, dark planet far from anything important... just another day for a marine. But today, you've been sent to track down a group of marines who have gone rogue, and you might just get more than even you can handle, with insurgents and perhaps even aliens vying for your blood. Is it going to be another glorious day in the Corps or game over, man? You decide! Destroyer of Worlds is a cinematic colonial marine scenario for Alien: the Roleplaying game. It uses the Year Zero system and its signature panic table to enable dangerous combat and nerve-wracking exploration without too much complexity. Characters are pre-generated, and there's no need to know the rules beforehand.

Game style

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

We played Tales From The Loop last night, one of my favorite RPGs. Caestus was a solid game master. He trained the group on the new tabletop VTT called Alchemy which was easy and fun to use. He knew the Year Zero Engine rules well and ran the game smoothly.

Caestus was really helpful in trying to figure out some tech difficulties at the beginning of the session, and was a lovely GM once the story got underway. He wove our character backgrounds into the story seamlessly, making for some fun RP. All in all, a real good time!

Booked a game last minute. Most DM's would never run it last minute. Not only did Caestus run the game, they were a amazing story teller, ran a super fun session, had awesome intros and narratives and played the AI NPC so great I felt like I was in the opening scene of a SCIFI movie! I got more content done WITH character creation than in any previous 3 hour session and I play a LOT of rpg's. Will book again 100%! Do the same!

Additional details

How to prepare

Player should have Roll20 and Discord accounts. Since the game uses pre-generated characters and I'm happy to help new players learn the rules, no other preparation is necessary, although watching one of the Alien movies may help (and just be fun)

What I provide

We will use a roll20 loaded with maps to help your exploration of Ariarcus, and even to add thematic music to immerse players. It also enables me to deal cards, essential since Alien uses cards for initiative and the secret agendas of characters. I have experience with the Alien system and will bring that plus a talent for running interesting NPCs and coming up with plot twists. Destroyer of Worlds is more combat heavy scenario, and players should expect plenty of gun battles with the possibility of characters dying, although the scenario comes with spare characters for that exact reason.

How will character creation work

Destroyer of Worlds comes with a number of pre-generated characters; players will select one when the game begins. There are even spare characters in case one is killed. As Colonial Marines, they are somewhat stronger and a lot better armed than starting characters
