About the adventure

It is an age of ashes. The gleaming empires of old have faded into obscurity, leaving a tired world riddled with dungeons and ruled by fiends. They say that the world has no heroes... but clearly, they've never met you! This RP and narrative heavy system is a refreshing change of pace from more math heavy ttrpg's.

About me

<-- Runs custom Birthday One Shots Gamer, Dad, Forever DM, getting good at voices (according to my very generous players), love storytelling, and the tactical elements of the game! I love everything from serious and dark, to goofy munchkin nonsense! Oh, and there will probably be a higher than usual focus on food in my games. I'm a chef and can't help it. My goal is to deliver an experience you're happy to be a part of, let me know how I can make that happen. Rule #1 Be Kind - we're all here to have fun, playing a game, and telling stories together.

Justin is a very organized GM providing complete and updated character sheets in Roll20 for his players. He utilizes Discord effectively for scheduling, notes, loot and private whispers between the DM and player in game. Gameplay is challenging but fair at early levels to allow players to really fall in love with their characters.

Justin has a depth of knowledge, a wealth of experience, and a passion for games that in turn, excites us, the players. He knows his stuff, but wants to know yours: what are you bringing to the table? The more creativity you bring, the more he works with it. You feel rewarded and appreciated for bringing your novel ideas to the table. And, he truly believes in our choices, our dice telling the story, so you don't feel like you are walking a linear line of predictability. Justin has patience with beginners and explains things without making you feel bad for asking questions. I have played in several of Justin's campaigns, and highly recommend him.

Justin is incredibly knowledgeable about the rules and knows how to use them to fit in with the story. His descriptions of locations and fights are also second to none, and he can paint a picture of how a battle is occurring really well. I'm thoroughly enjoying my games with Justin as DM so far and would definitely recommend him to anyone.

I'll start by saying, I have never played DND, nor another tabletop game before. This was something I decided to try because my friend asked me. We found Charlie and thought he would be someone that we could gel with. As someone who was a beginner, I was extremely nervous but he made everything so easy, that I decided to make this a regular thing. Every other Sunday I dedicate to playing DND because this group is FUN. I have a blast, the group we have is wonderful, and I really cannot express how wonderful Charlie has been. I have NEVER played DND and because of HIM I have been returning. If you're on the fence, have never played, and want a DM who actually cares, you need to try a game with Charlie. You get an opportunity to express your creative side in a way you just don't get a chance to with anything else. 10/10 experience. Awesome guy, awesome group, I'm beyond excited to be apart of it.

Runs a fun session. Very open to player ideas; encourages role play but also keeps things moving along. Excellent listener.

Character creation
Creating your character

We'll do this during session 0, it's a pretty straight forward system, but new enough to most that we'll all go through it.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

You'll need a mic, discord, roll20, and a desire to play this kind of game. A certain whimsy let's call it.

What Charlie Bastian brings to the table

As your GM I'll be bringing along 28 years experience running ttrpg's 3 of which have been professional. I'll bring the maps, the monsters, the music, and the muppets!

Homebrew rules

#1 Be Kind - we're all here to have fun, playing a game, and telling stories together. #2 Buy In - Make a character for the game you're playing, someone that wants to go on the adventure, someone that wants to work in a party, ect.

Safety
How Charlie Bastian creates a safe table

This game is heavily inspired by the Muppets and Fraggle Rock, but with Lord of Rings and Princess Bride... and Mad Max as the setting. We shouldn't run into anything serious content wise, but we will still discuss it during session 0, we aren't here to make anyone uncomfortable, we're here to tell stories and play a game.
