About the adventure
Are you new to Pathfinder 2e? Perhaps you're new to tabletop RPGs or wanting to get back into the hobby by starting with a nice beginner adventure? This is a great campaign to start with if you: ✅Want to learn how to play or refresh yourself on the rules ✅Want to delve some dungeons ✅Want to start an epic quest that continues after your first steps! Whatever your reason, I look forward to playing with you! The small seaside town of Otari is known for its fresh fish and skilled sailors, but above all, it’s a big logging town, providing valuable wood to the nearby metropolis of Absalom. But for you, Otari is home. You grew up playing on the docks, getting lost in the nearby woods, and hearing the fantastical stories of travelers from faraway lands, tales of terrifying dragons and virtuous knights. Such adventure always seemed so distant- until today. Word has begun to spread around Otari that there's a problem down at the Otari Fishery. Some are saying that some sort of beast is lurking in the basement, feeding on the stores of salted fish. Folks are worried that whatever is eating the fish might get hungry enough to eat the fishers next! You've received a letter from Tamily Tanderveil, the owner of the Fishery. Inside is a desperate plea for help. With the town guard busy protecting the loggers, she needs a few brave souls to venture down into the basement of her warehouse and put an end to the beast that's feasting on her fish! Do you have the courage to face the menace under Otari?

About me
🛡️ Hi there! I’m Dustin aka "Blake Poleman" — longtime GM, professional storyteller, and the creator behind Sword & Board Productions. I’ve been running RPGs for over 16 years, crafting immersive worlds full of rich lore, dynamic NPCs, tense encounters, and memorable character arcs. Whether you’re brand new to the table or a veteran dice-slinger, my goal is simple: to help you live an epic story you’ll remember. ✨ What I offer: ✅ Deep, story-driven campaigns ✅ Cinematic battles with tactical challenge ✅ Roleplay that makes you care about your character ✅ A welcoming, inclusive table for all players ✅ Professional tools (Foundry VTT, Discord) and quality audio — your game will feel good Whether you want to dive into one of my ongoing campaigns, or commission something custom just for you and your friends, you’re in the right place. If you’re looking for a GM who loves character-driven stories, moral choices, epic worldbuilding, and a bit of tactical crunch, let’s roll some dice. ⚔️✨

Creating your character
Characters will begin at level 1. Ancestry and classes are open but I highly recommend sticking to basic options for both though you're very welcome to challenge yourself. Just let me know if you want to bring an Android Alchemist to the table and we'll work together to see if we can make it work. If you don't feel comfortable with setting up your own character, I will have 4 pre-made characters for you to choose from, but creating your own is highly encouraged as it will help you mentally buy into the game and setting more.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need Discord account. You don't have to have any prior knowledge of the game to play but consider looking up some videos or beginner tips on youtube. Mic is necessary. Webcam is not needed but highly encouraged as it's always more fun to see your fellow players and more engaging for me so I'm not talking and emoting to a faceless audience. For character creation, I recommend using a character builder in advance of session 0 so you have a general idea of the character you'd like to play. My recommendation is https://pathbuilder2e.com but you are welcome to use whatever you wish. During play, I will spend the first session or two helping you through your turns or giving you tips (should you request it), and will slowly hand the reigns over to you completely. Remember, both success and failure is what makes the game fun! The dice tell a story!
What Dustin "Blake Poleman" brings to the table
I provide the tabletop, and the materials needed to play. I also provide music/ambient sounds to set the mood (which you can control on your side if it's too loud/soft or otherwise). I do voices, and generally try to get everyone involved in roleplay that wishes to participate. For combat, I tend to stick to rules as written, but fun is more important and will sometimes allow the "rule of cool" to win the day. Since this is a beginner game, any time I knowingly go against the rules as written I may highlight the fact after the session is over to allow for a more cohesive experience with future play and other GMs that may be more strict. I'm here to set you up for success in the future, whether it be with me or someone else!
Homebrew rules
We will be using heroic action variant rule which expands the usage of hero points. You can still use them for rolling a 2nd die on skill checks and for spending all of them to automatically stabilize, but you can also get access to powerful actions they may change the course of battle.

How Dustin "Blake Poleman" creates a safe table
The first session will be spent on character creation with any remaining time either doing a quick mock battle to get a feel for things or jumping in if everyone feels they have a good idea of how their character works. We will talk about the general flow of a session, and players can discuss any limits they have in session 0, on discord or directly via message if it is a sensitive subject. Breaks will be offered, but on shorter two hour sessions they won't be wholly necessary.
