The Innumerable Scourges

The Innumerable Scourges

Mörk Borg | Campaign

About the adventure

Welcome to the Land of Innumerable Scourges, a world resting between the realms of deathly shadow and the twilight of the end times. This restless plane runs thick with the clot of undeath, fiends from unknowable eternities, and abominable creatures tainted by the presence of all the malefic beings now residing here. A number of self-proclaimed monarchs have gained their status as apostles of the darkness as a means to obtain both power and exaltation now and in the afterlife. The world already suffers destitution and indignity as the wayward people of this land buckle under the extremes presented to them. Perhaps you have a sliver of hope to stand out and survive or at least enjoy the end times. Likely you will follow the same path as all the other unfortunate souls before you. Maybe, however slim the chance, you can stop the end from coming. Welcome to the Land of Innumerable Scourges!! I invite you into the darkness. This game runs with moderately altered rules from the normal Mörk Borg setting and inspires players to take creative agency, make daring decisions on how to survive, and embrace the ominous circumstances and decisions. They do this to survive a genuinely unfortunate world fallen into ruin where the time you have left can be numbered in months, weeks, or days. Death may lurk around almost any corner, or luck may find you. This campaign, due to the potential for high character mortality, may function almost as a series of dark one-shots if character death happens frequently enough. This represents the aimless nature of a party strung together by survivors, and as such, it is recommended to create two backup characters at any time. Thankfully, character creation is fast and easy with a splash of randomness for fun! I want you all to revel in the chaotic fun of it and set your own character goals, whether you succeed or perish trying.

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Dungeon Crawl

A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!

How to prepare

Talespire and a Mic, and appropriate headset to hear mainly to avoid echoing. The rules are simple but plays should somewhat learn the basics to make the start worry free. 1 starting character and 2 backups should be made given the higher than average mortality rate of characters. Each takes 5-10 minutes.

What I provide

I personally enjoy using Talespire for the amount of content i can present players. I also provide the basis for making characters and using them relevantly based on the statistics of the miniatures used. Feel free to make a heroforge character or anything else for your own integration. I enjoy using ambience to help tell the tale and the occasional character voice. I also believe in a mix of using tactics to survive and the occasionall rule of cool ruling at the table. We want to have fun and I want to make a positive experience!

How will character creation work

Players will choose a class from the selected 12 and or start classless if that is their preference. All rolls will be made traditionally using Mork Borg rules 4 sets of 3d6 for class characters with applicable modifiers or 2 sets of 4d6 (drop lowest) and 2 sets of 3d6. Basic gear and abilities shall be rolled per custom. There isnt an exact leveling system in game, and this is dictated by DM approved milestones. Just message me before the game and I can explain and provide relevant materials.
