Train Heist (Beginner Friendly)

Train Heist (Beginner Friendly)

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Beginner Friendly and Session 0 is free. This is meant to be a short 2-4 Session Campaign. Word is a train loaded down with all manner of treasures and oddities will be passing through the area in a matter of days. Several additional cars are said to have been hitched to the usual carts. If you heard these rumors, others are bound to of as well. Will you raid the train yourself before anyone else has the chance? Or will you attempt to save the train and its cargo?

How to prepare

A mic is required, but a camera isn't. Personal choice to use a camera or not. You'll need roll20 and discord accounts as well. You don't have to create a character ahead of session 0 but will need one before the first session. If you don't like the vibe of myself or the rest of the group no harm, no loss. For new players: It'd be nice if you knew some rules a bit before getting into things but if not, no big deal. Plenty of time to learn during the game.

What I provide

I have a penchant for horror type elements. Monsters will be monsters. That said I prefer things to be freaky and weird rather than overly gross. More Resident Evil than Saw for example. I also enjoy plenty of goof and levity. Things are no fun if its just serious spook all the time, gotta laugh too right? I dislike killing player characters, I prefer to challenge and impede. Most of the time I like to find other ways around it, a permanent wound or something along those lines. A lost eye or limp. When running combat I like to make it a challenge but not overwhelming. Some monsters will play to the party's strengths while others will be included to prod at weaknesses. Combat is where I like to stick to rules the hardest but even then bend on a few things here and there. I won't do a voice for every NPC and some minor conversations will be glossed over (Don't need to rp out renting a room at an inn every time for example) but some will either if they're important or I just think it'd be fun to give an npc a voice. It might be more common for an npc to have a preferred method of talking rather than a full accent. I'm no pro voice actor but like to bring what I can. Under no condition will sexual content be described or roleplayed.

How will character creation work

Characters will start at lvl5, using either the 2014 or 2024 rules. We'll hold a session 0 and have a discord server for anything and everything Campaign related. I'll work with each player to build out their character. If you're a new player just let me know and I'll be happy to walk you through the process. Anything official is up for use. I don't mess with homebrew character options much. Character sheets will be hosted on roll20 but if you have a personal method, D&D beyond or a physical sheet, you can use that to track things. I'd just need the roll20 sheet and the personal method to match up.
