Limitless Destiny: A BIZARRE 5e Adventure

Limitless Destiny: A BIZARRE 5e Adventure

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Ready yourself for an all new BIZARRE adventure using DnD 5e! This setting inspired by JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Persona, and players of all experience levels are welcome. Don't sweat not knowing the rules back and forwards because we'll be playing fast and loose here. Rule of cool is the name of the game and optimization is just a whole lot of fancy syllables. -- The common folk have an endless pressure to survive placed on their shoulders. Monsters roam the country sides, bandits own the roads, and the nobility only care when their pockets are affected. In a world where magic is the work of demons and gods, you and your fellow mundane party members have a never-before-seen gift to give you an edge in survival. This edge is your Altur, a spectral companion bound to your side and undetectable by normal senses. Each Altur appears differently and lends its strength in unique ways to their user. One Altur may appear as a stout dwarf, hurling fireballs conjured from thin air; while another is a Gnoll who mends bones with the touch of its hand. Though mysterious, your Altur is exactly the edge you need to survive this world. You and the rest of our story's heroes are drawn together by the thread of fate. Survive this Bizarre journey and change everything, embrace your Limitless Potential. -- Characters themselves will be posted on roll20 where we'll do the rolling but as a general theme we'll be going theater of the mind as often as there'll be a battle map. Time spent counting 5ft squares is time spent not striking a dramatic pose and saving the day.

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare

All you'll need is access to a microphone, a camera is *great* but absolutely not required. You'll also need a way to access discord and roll20 so that we can communicate and make sure we're all looking at the same thing.

What I provide

I'll provide the digital space where we'll play, all the necessary digital files, and a discord server for us to meet.

Gameplay details

In my games safety tools are broken down into pre, mid, and post game. Pre-game safety tools are used before any dice are rolled, that's your establishing lines/veils (usually with the Monte Cook checklist), identifying touchstones in media, and setting table norms. In game, we'll take a break around the halfway point and there is a no-questions-asked open table policy. Get water, stretch if you need it, answer that important call; we'll be here when you get back. If a particularly rough scene is going down I might check in with players to make sure everyone is comfortable with whatever horror is happening. Post game, we'll recap the session and bring up any moments that felt particularly awesome or that we'd like to see in the next few sessions. If you need to talk to me or the rest of the table to handle bleed (transfer of PC and Player emotions) just reach out and we'll talk it through and bring it to the table if that's what the situation needs.

How will character creation work

I'll work with each player individually to work on their idea so we can make sure we're all playing the same game. That weird class combo that's super unoptimized but fun as heck? This is the time to break it out. I've also got some homebrew I've written that you're more than welcome to. We've got the discord server to talk character ideas and when you've got something that you're interested in then we'll hammer out the backstory from there. If your character isn't playing the way you thought they would after the first few sessions we'll just tweak things around until something fits.
