The Inescapable Mists, Curse of Strahd 2e
Pathfinder 2e | Campaign
About the adventure
Strahd’s Player Guide Welcome to Curse of Strahd, one of the most hauntingly immersive adventures ever written. This is a tale of gothic horror, mystery, and survival, set in a world where danger lurks in every shadow and knowledge is the most powerful weapon at your disposal. If you crave a campaign that challenges your wit, courage, and teamwork, then step forward into the mist—if you dare. I have run Curse of Strahd twice before, and it remains the most unforgettable campaign I’ve ever been part of—both for myself and my players. To enhance the experience, I incorporate select third-party material to deepen the lore, enrich the experience and mechanics, and bring Barovia to life in ways that make the world feel complete. My goal as a GM is simple: to craft a story that balances exploration, social encounters, and combat—blending all three seamlessly into an immersive and emotionally gripping experience. Most importantly, I want everyone at the table to have a fantastic time and create lasting memories. The Curse of Strahd takes place in the forsaken realm of Barovia, a land swallowed by The Mists. This is a world where myths and truths intertwine, and where uncovering the past is key to escaping its grasp. Barovia does not play by the normal rules of the world, and many of its secrets reveal themselves only to those who dare to seek them out. The true power in Barovia is not found in steel or magic, but in unraveling the truths that shape this cursed land. Be prepared for the unexpected, for in Barovia, nothing is ever quite as it seems. Unlike traditional fantasy adventures where heroes triumph over evil with sheer might, Curse of Strahd is a Gothic Horror tale—where survival itself is a victory. This is a world of decay, dread, and despair, where the people are broken, hope is fleeting, and malevolence is ever-present. The land itself is cursed, and you will feel its weight on your soul. What you uncover may save you… or damn you. Resources are scarce, allies are few, and the odds are rarely in your favor. Not all choices will be black and white, and even good intentions can lead to terrible outcomes. Before we embark on this journey, we will have a free Session Zero— dedicated to character creation, party cohesion, and setting expectations. I want to ensure that every player is engaged and invested in the story. • This campaign thrives on mystery. If you have played Curse of Strahd before, watched a playthrough, or read spoilers, I kindly ask that you do not sign up. I understand some spoiling is inevitable. Part of the magic of this adventure is the unknown, and prior knowledge can diminish that experience. • Your choices will shape the world around you. Actions have consequences, and the story will evolve based on the paths you choose. If you are ready to step into a land of shadows and whispers, where fear is a constant companion and hope is a fragile thing, then welcome to Barovia. The Mists are calling... will you answer?

Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Cody is the best GM I've ever had and it's been 15 years of playing with dozens of GMs! We played both online and in person, and was equally fun. He's the master of voices and improv, his existentialist philosophical talking swan with a lisp is still my favorite! He has distinct personalities and accents for each NPC and there's so much fun banter. He also gives good advice for building your characters and rewards good role play and staying in character. I also loved we did not just cast spells but acted out how we did it and which words we spoke. Big recommendation can't wait to play again!
Cody is an amazing GM! I had the chance to play in his Beyond the Witchlight campaign, which ran for over a year, and it was an absolute blast. He knows the rules inside and out, which means he also knows exactly how to bend them to make the game fun, especially for beginners like me. His mimicry is top-notch, giving every character their own unique voice and quirks. On top of that, his worldbuilding and creativity are unmatched. Whether you're a seasoned player or brand new to the game, Cody is the kind of GM who makes every session memorable. Cheers, Cody, to our next adventure! 🍻
Cody is a fantastic GM and so much fun to play with. He knows the rules but always makes sure the game stays fun. He also includes your character’s backstory in the game, which makes it even more exciting. He leads the game really well without ever feeling pushy. Playing Strahd with him was an amazing experience—one of my favorite campaigns ever. If you get the chance to play with Cody, do it! You won’t regret it.

How to prepare
Players must have a working mic to play. I will host the game through foundry so all you need is yourself/voice and would be good to use pathbuilder to help create your character. The Lands of Barovia contain many Undead monsters but I will add/incorporate many living monsters as well. You should all be familiar with the Pathfinder 2e rules and would be good, though not necessary, to have a 2-3 character concepts in mind before session zero.
What I provide
I like to run rule of cool and sometimes may get a rule incorrect but will continue forward for the sake of continuity and can talk about the proper rules out of session. I am also very open to using homebrewed rules for certain instances that make the game fun for all. Intense combats on Foundry VTT with maps/tokens. Excellent Social encounters with some different voice actings, theatre of mind scenes and animated maps, plus atmospheric and thematic music.
Gameplay details
Session 0 will go over all potential instances and any possible moments of Uncomfortability. I am very open and would love for my players to be comfortable and enjoy their time. Anyone who doesn't wish to speak about it in front of others may message me privately and I will work with them to resolve the issue. Details will be sent to them via discord

How will character creation work
The Curse of Strahd will take characters from level 3 to anywhere between level 10 and 13. It is a sandbox which means characters may possibly enter an area that is above or below their advised level. We will use the free archetype and the slow bonus progression rule so builds can come online earlier. We will discuss further in session zero. Session Zero & Player Expectations Before we embark on this journey, we will have a Session Zero—a free session dedicated to character creation, party cohesion, and setting expectations. This is a collaborative experience, and I want to ensure that every player is engaged and invested in the story. A few important notes: • This campaign thrives on mystery. If you have played Curse of Strahd before, watched a playthrough, or read spoilers, I kindly ask that you do not sign up. Part of the magic of this adventure is the unknown, and prior knowledge can diminish that experience. • This is a horror campaign. While not designed to be overly graphic, the game does explore dark themes. If there are any specific content concerns, we will discuss boundaries in Session Zero. • Roleplay matters. While combat and tactics are important, immersive roleplay and problem-solving are just as vital to your survival. • Player agency is key. Your choices will shape the world around you. Actions have consequences, and the story will evolve based on the paths you choose.
