Triumph of the Tusk | Orc themed campaign | Beginners Welcome!
Pathfinder 2e | Campaign
About the adventure
The most powerful leader in the orc nation of Belkzen, Ardax White-Hair, has invited dignitaries and ambassadors from all the surrounding nations to visit and enjoy a month long festival called Torrentmoot. His nation is in a precarious position. Five years ago, the incredibly powerful lich known as Tar-Baphon escaped from his prison to the east and destroyed the nation of Lastwall, turning its territory into a place now called 'the gravelands.' Soon after, the forces of Tar-Baphon marched on Belkzen. Ardax managed to form an alliance of enough orc holds to defeat the Whispering Tyrant's armies in the Battle of Nine Broken Skulls, but he knows the victory is only temporary. Earlier this very year, a conflict known as the War of Immortals has thoroughly disrupted the orc pantheon. The god Gorum, popular with the orcs of Belkzen, was slain. The conflict has also seen many orc gods usurped by challengers who invoke the orcish tradition of the Crucible, a process that involves fighting the former god in fair combat and achieving apotheosis in victory and being utterly destroyed beyond any return in defeat. Former orc hold warlords such as the Empty Hand's Grask Uldeth and the Burning Sun's Mahja Firehair slew their predecessors and have thrown the balance of power of Belkzen's faith into total chaos. Ardax, known for his keen mind and uncommon tendency towards diplomacy, now seeks alliances and treaties with other nations in addition to bringing the lesser holds within Belkzen under his control. The party is made up of these dignitaries, ambassadors, and orcs. Ardax wants to see what his potential allies are made of, and its your task to represent your hold, company, or nation at his festival of peace. This adventure starts players at 3rd level and eventually advances to 12 by the end. Paizo tends to split their adventures into low and high level blocks, and the ending level of 12 is about right to flow into their higher level adventures if players want to continue with the same characters after Triumph of the Tusk ends.

How to prepare
Please read the Triumph of the Tusk player's guide before session 0. A microphone connected to your computer is required. A webcamera is recommended, but I do not require it. We'll be using the websites Owlbear.rodeo, pathbuilder2e.com, and Discord. You can download Discord or use the web client, and you will need a discord account to play. Owlbear does not require an account but you do gain some features for the website if you do have one. I recommend paying for the upgraded pathbuilder2e experience, but paying is not required. I recommend purchasing a set of dice from a local game store or online, but they are not required.
What I provide
I own the physical and digital versions of the adventure and run them over the virtual tabletop Owlbear Rodeo. That means I have a map for you to navigate, pdfs and other documents you can use during the game, and tokens to represent you and the enemies on the map. Player-side content for pathfinder 2e is free, but for the best experience I recommend a paid pathbuilder 2 account for best access to the features of the character builder. I require characters be built in pathbuilder 2 and that they be connected to me using the 'connect to gm' feature so I may view them during the game (that part is free to players). Pathfinder 2 is perfect for tactical combat and I love to see players infuse their choices in combat with fitting roleplay. I try to stick to the rules of the game when they apply and allow for experimental use of your actions when there isn't a fitting rule to go with. I try to reward inventive strategy and don't expect you to build optimally, or even well. I'm not a professional voice actor, but I try to give each npc a unique sound to make it more engaging to interact with them all.
Gameplay details
Session 0 is primarily a place I use to facilitate the party's character lineup and to set expectations for the rest of the games going forward. I like to get to know my players a little before we dive into things and session 0 is the best way I've found to help me do that. The safety tools I use can be expressed either in text or voice. I try to keep the exact method of delivery up to each player so they can use what is most comfortable for them. Gameplay is handled via Owlbear Rodeo maps for combat. Handouts go over discord, as does voice, text and video during the game.

How will character creation work
If you are a beginner, please book me so we can go through character creation process and basic rules before the game. I require characters be built in pathbuilder 2e. I don't use any homerules or alternate options for character creation. Remember: Ask me about any uncommon or rare option you want to take before getting married to it. The player guide for the adventure will give you a good idea of what I am likely to be okay with taking. Remember to make a character that wants to be here, and will want to adventure with the party. This adventure has you start at level 3, with normal starting wealth for that level.
