About the adventure

STORY: You're putting together a rag-tag group of mercs that can do what they want, when they want, how they want - and without corporations, factions, or houses getting in the way. Lead by a council of warriors, not a dictatorship, you hope to grow your clan into something unique and powerful. You each have your own light mech and combined resources to secure a single small jumpship. It's just enough, combined with a tiny bit of experience, to get yourselves in trouble but if you can score some salvage you will be set. HOMEBREW: Based on cannon content but only indirectly. This isn't happening in the inner sphere and if anything on the great outer reaches of known space. The group not only have to survive battles on the field but the concept of starting on the fringe of society, without any backup, and little resources. Everything and everyone is against them but they don't have to take orders or jobs they don't want. They run their own show. Can they make it work? MECHWARRIOR: Using 2nd Edition rules for character/mechwarrior character building/generation. In the pilot seat, using Classic Battletech rules (unless and until the group want to step it up, level up, and eventually get into a scale we need TOTAL WARFARE rulesets). ___________________________ SUMMARY Pro GM: Over 40 years of experience Approx (5) five, Entry Level (1) Mechwarriors Each will have a LIGHT mech to start. New to game: PRE-GENS AVAILALBLE TO PICK FROM Age: Adult 18+ only please! Frequency: Average/target is 3x-5x per day Date/Time: We play all day, every day. GMs Time Zone: Eastern/Florida/USA ========================= PLAY-BY-POST: Play ANY TIME, ANY WHERE... spread out through your day, via a collection of DISCORD groups, DnDBeyond characters, and map tools like OwlBear, Roll20, Canva. ASYNCHRONOUS! THIS GAME IS NOT A LIVE GAME WHERE EVERYONE IS ON AT THE SAME TIME. That's right, we play asynchronously sending messages back and forth via DISCORD. There will be a GROUP game chat (where we role-play), but also private channels to talk to the GM behind the scenes, or chat with other players on the same server. EXPECTATION: At least 3 significant (verbose) contributions a day, and preferably closer to 5 per day. (Game Time is 8am to 5pm Eastern USA, weekdays only). Everyone has time, either during coffee beaks, meal breaks, bathroom breaks, and as often as you can fit it in. It's VERY important you check in OFTEN!!! Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Play By Post

Play By Post refers to a game in which players interact with the story through messages and text posts. These games are typically played asynchronously throughout the week, which gives players time to consider what they want to do next, and engage with the story at their own pace.

How to prepare

You're joining a WAITLIST to start with. We need a minimum of four (4) to actually start the game. In the meantime, ne prepared to join a Discord server and start working on Session Zero activities as soon as enough PCs join that we are likely to start soon.

What I provide

MOTTO: It is YOUR game, so play it YOUR way... The initial game begins with a very specific mission mind. While anything can happen, if the group wants to keep playing - we can move things in ANY direction. *********************************** I'll bring the adventure... I'll bring 40+ years of GM experience I'll bring maps with tokens... I'll provide visuals when possible... ------------------------------------ RULE OF COOL: Yes, I can see that - occasionally. I don't typically BREAK a major rule, but can see slight variances or "exceptions" when the situation warrants it. There are a very small handful of places where I like to adapt the rules a little (because it makes sense). Just concern yourself with the game. Play it. Role-play, and leave the mechanics to me!!!!

Gameplay details

ADULT GAME 18+ ONLY (Viewer/Player discretion is advised): WARNING / DISCLAIMER: This game is designed to replicate realism, in every way, as close as possible to reality. A great many unfortunate atrocities exist in our real world, and in a fantasy/make believe world they can easily be far worse and take on fictional aspects never before considered. SESSION 0 / DEBRIEFING: Session 0 merely represents the dialogue that will be exchanged early on (usually before you start paying) to make sure you understand how it's played, what you are expected to bring to the virtual table, character creation, home rules, timeliness, SAFETY, and cordial play. LINES and VEILS: During the Session 0, and while Debriefing at various intervals (between chapters), you can discuss with the GM any topics, scenes, or scenarios that are particularly disturbing. BREAKS / X, N, O CARDS: Breaks are built-in playing asynchronously, so just keep the GM informed of your needs. Throw up an a bunch of X's or an X-card image, and we all know to stop. The topic is off limits. Not as common in PBP, but available if needed. SANDBOX: This game setting is very adaptable to match what it is you are looking for in a game. Expect a short "survey" link to be sent to you once we start. From this, I'll collect a quick understanding of your level of experience, what games / modules / settings you've used before, and where I should focus the game.
