Transformers Roleplaying Game | Campaign

About the adventure

Transformers One was an awesome movie, so much so, that I wanted to explore a little story that explores more of the early days of the Autobot/Decepticon conflict. Come with me as we turn Autobots into the Bad Guys, Decepticons into underdog rebels and try to restore Peace on Cybertron that doesn't have to rely on the "Great and Powerful" Primes.

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Sabrecho is a wonderful Gamemaster. He consciously creates an inclusive and safe gaming space, and ensures everyone feels welcome. He takes the time to help those who may be new to a particular ruleset, and demonstrates a great deal of patience for beginners. He's an excellent world builder; as of last count, he has merged 3 popular worlds together to create a dynamic and fun universe for the players to enjoy. Sabrecho definitely follows the Rule of Cool, and puts characters, story, and storytelling above rules.

Introduced me to the BESM 3 system and was a fun and inclusive environment. Really enjoyed, and continue to enjoy, being one of his players. Is very open to player input and feels like someone you can disagree with about how something works, and can actually have a constructive conversation about your differing opinions on what to roll and why. All in all, probably one of the best GMs I have ever had the honour of being a player for.

Richard is great at helping, newer players learn the rules of any game he’s Dming. Fun world building manly with building off of what the players say. For example I nat 1 a role to land the ship, so I made a joke of putting in the wrong number, and Richard build off of that to say that the ship went to a previous destination. And many more

Richard is a great GM! His storytelling is detailed and imaginative, he is even and fair, and he really puts a lot of effort and work into his games. I would tell anyone to sign up for one of his games, whether those new to role-playing, or even old hat veterans with a real love of rping in general. His even approach and enthusiastic and creative storytelling will help ensure you get immersed in the experience.

The Renegade Games Transformers game is a new system, and Richard made it easy to learn while playing. He was attenuative to all players at the table of every skill. If you're looking for a GM that will do his best to make a dynamite story, Richard will take care of you. Loads of fun waiting to happen.

He is fanominal in world creation, story building, cliffhangers, and unexpected twists! A master in the creative department, He also takes great care to ensure that your uncomfy topics do not hold a place within the world and even implements a system you can use to tell him you are uncomfy or that you need him to stop if something arises. He takes amazing care of his players, I would HIGHLY recommend him for your Campaigns!

How to prepare

First off, I'm a Web Development enthusiast, so I have my own website. Registered members of the site will see some of the rulebook's information and it is there that the "Semi-Offline Copy" of your character sheets will be found. The campaign site is: https://diebot.org/ I will be running the campaign on FoundryVTT, so an up-to-date web browser is all you need for that. Discord will be employed for voice chat too so familiarity with that will help as well. I'm quite strongly in favour of supporting the Publishers of the systems I GM in. (If they make a quality product, they deserve to be able to pay their bills.) So I'm going to mention here that the Transformers RPG Rulebook I'm using should be available to pick up from https://renegadegamestudios.com/transformers-roleplaying-game/ That being said, I understand if buying the book is tough to manage so I'll be happy to answer questions that come up. Q&A's may not be especially efficient, nor convenient, but it's basically the same as "Borrowing the GM's Players Handbook on game day" when playing physically together.

What I provide

Foundry VTT has another mod available that produces Pogs, so if you can draw/find some art to base your pog on I'll set you up with that. I'll also furnish you with some macros that specifically relate to your character to make the actions you lean on as fluid as possible.

Gameplay details

Foundry VTT has a mod that can be added that offers XNO cards to anyone logged in at any time. when played they're pretty obnoxious and hard to miss. For everyone's convenience, the Lines & Veils will be noted in a Foundry Journal, keeping it with the table. Aftercare is typically done in two parts, a little "How'd you like that?" dialogue right on the heels of a session, but also, I'm actively available for DirMsg's through the entire week.

How will character creation work

I plan to have a modest selection of potential Pre-fabs ready to go; which will likely be based on some familiar faceplates from the recent film Transformers One. Where necessary content from Transformers Prime, the G1 cartoon and even other sources will be folded in. In order to entice you to work with me during Session 0 to make an OC (Original Character), the Pre-fabs will be a tiny bit nerf'd/hamstrung compared to an OC. This nerfing of the pre-fabs will be in areas that aren't concerned with combat, just roleplay. Most of the initial Decepticon forces would be adherents of the High-Guard concept of 'the strength of one bot over another' so, to help y'all stand out from the grunts... Starting Level is 2.
