Hope's Last Day | Sci-Fi Survival Horror | Learn to Play Alien
Alien: The Roleplaying Game | One-Shot
About the adventure
Shortly after Miranda Reynolds arrived, the xenomorphs appeared. Blood thirsty monsters, the xenomorphers slaughtered every one in Hadley's Hope, except for you. For now. Your only hope of survival is stealing Miranda's shuttle, but that means going back in. On the brightside, Miranda's probably dead. Hope's Last Day is an introductory one-shot for Alien RPG that leans into survival horror and dungeon crawling. Fans of the Alien Franchise will also recognize Hadley's Hope as the setting of Aliens, the second movie, prior to the movie's events.

I am writing to enthusiastically recommend Golvin as a Dungeon Master for Dungeons & Dragons. I have had the pleasure of playing in a 5-week-long campaign, and I can attest to his exceptional skills and dedication to creating an enjoyable and engaging gaming experience. Golvin possesses a deep and comprehensive understanding of the D&D ruleset. His knowledge allows for smooth gameplay, clear rulings, and a consistent, immersive experience. He is patient and always willing to explain rules or concepts to new players, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and included. This patience is particularly valuable for those less familiar with the game like myself, making him an ideal DM for introducing new players to the world of D&D. What truly sets Golvin apart is his ability to craft compelling narratives and dynamic worlds. He is a master of improvisation, seamlessly weaving player choices into the ongoing story, creating a sense of agency and investment. His descriptions are vivid, his NPC interactions are engaging, and his encounters are challenging and rewarding. Beyond his technical prowess, Golvin fosters a positive and inclusive atmosphere at the table. He prioritizes fun and ensures that every player has an opportunity to shine. He is adept at balancing combat, roleplaying, and exploration, catering to a diverse range of player preferences. Golvin consistently demonstrates the qualities of an exceptional Dungeon Master: knowledge, patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for the game. Any group would be fortunate to have him guiding their adventures. I wholeheartedly recommend Golvin to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable D&D experience
My first time here on StartPlaying, and I had a super fun time playing and learning CoC with Franc! He’s very knowledgeable and helpful, everything is organized and ready before the game, including rules and pregens, making it so easy for me to play. I love that he is very accommodating and patient to teach me everything about CoC. The session was very immersive and fun, and I definitely would love to participate in more games with him in the future. Thank you so much Franc!

How to prepare
The campaign will be run on Roll20 with Discord for notes and messages. As such, players are expected to have: - a Roll20 account, - a Discord account, - a good internet connection, - and a microphone.
What I provide
Tangibly, I bring a fully realized Roll20 game (macros, pre-made characters, maps, handouts, etc.) To help make Alien easier to learn this also includes a rules cheatsheet plus a Roll20 guide in the Discord. (None of which you need to read.) Intangibly, I've run and taught TTRPGs for a decade. This includes multiple Alien RPG campaigns and over a dozen runs of Hope's Last Day.
Gameplay details
When joining this campaign, I will send you my Lines & Veils (content boundaries) along with any relevant links. ("Prep Material.") I encourage you to add your own, either before or during session 0. If you become uncomfortable during play, please notify me. You can do so verbally or messaging me an "X" (stop) or "N" (getting uncomfortable). At which, I'll remove the offending content or fast-forward through it. However, depending on how obvious what the offending content is, I may need to ask about it later to update the group's Lines & Veils. You are, of course, free to step away from the game as necessary.
