About the adventure

Thornton is a city in Colorado grappling with a secret history, a dangerous cult and the trials of school life for the players. You will play as new heroes uncovering dangerous ploys and trying to fix them thanks to your power to enter the world of cognition while managing your mundane school life. There is no need to have much knowledge of Persona (5 or otherwise) to join this game, but do say so if that's your case. The campaign will feature at least five Palaces (main dungeons), with other visits to the Shadow World for minor missions. There is also the potential for more Palaces, depending on the players and their engagement with the setting. Session 0 (and any other consultation before actual play) will be free. The times I am available, along with the other players' availability, will be accessible to you once you sing up. This is so I can find the best time for everyone to play together. This can be your introduction to Masks and/or PbtA (the system Masks falls under), as I will explain to any new players all they need to know about TTRPGs, role-playing, etc. It is important to keep in mind that this campaign will modify the base game (Masks) to better fit the Persona experience.

How to prepare

Mic will be necessary, and players should also have a Roll20 and Discord account. There is no need for the players to have read the rules ahead of time, but it is strongly encouraged. Although I can help them with it or have them create a character based on one from Persona 5, the players will need to create the character sheet.

What I provide

I will provide the basic Masks rules, some supplements, and the needed document with the hack to play this setting. I'm not good at doing different voices, though, so be warned. Not only that, but I will be using music to enhance the experience, and while the combat is not gridded or complex, I will try to describe it in compelling ways. Furthermore, I usually stick to Rule of Cool a lot to reward my players, within reason.

Gameplay details

I will provide all the material that is mentioned in the Safety Tools section, as well as any you might request. The RPG Consent Checklist will be sent to you before the Session 0, and I will need you to fill it before we start actually playing (Session 1 and beyond). The check-in cards will be available digitally through Roll20, as well as being used through voice or message.

How will character creation work

I will organize one or various Session 0s to create and refine the characters. The characters will mostly be created normally, aside from the new Facade (Persona). Some other aspects might change, and there will be some unique playbooks (classes) for the setting. They will start at level one, and we will be referring to a document I will provide for all the changes from the original Masks RPG books.
