About the adventure

***IF THESE DAYS/TIMES DON'T WORK FOR YOU OR YOU WOULD RATHER A BI-WEEKLY/MONTHLY SCHEDULE, MESSAGE ME ABOUT STARTING A CAMPAIGN AT A TIME/FREQUENCY THAT FITS YOUR SCHEDULE!*** In the quiet mining town of Red Larch along the Sword Coast, a mystery begins with a missing delegation of dwarves from the great city of Mirabar. Local investigations haven't found any leads, but perhaps YOU might uncover a much larger mystery than a handful of missing delegates, for there is an Apocalypse to stop. Join a party of adventurers trying to carve a name for themselves in Faerun as they search the Dessarin Valley and find cultist conspiracies, deadly dungeons, and Elemental Evil in this investigative dungeon crawl campaign!

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Dungeon Crawl

A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare

Webcam is encouraged, but not necessary. I will have mine on or off upon request. Microphone is necessary. I use DnD Beyond which you may access if you have an account (subscription not necessary). Everything else I use is free or usually doesn't need an account. Being familiar with the rules is appreciated, but I am very new player friendly, so no worries if you don't know jump mechanics!

What I provide

I will make a DnD Beyond campaign for people to make characters, though if you wish to use another character creation tool, you are more than welcome so long as you can share it with me before play. I mostly use theater of the mind for encounters, but I also use Owlbear rodeo for a Virtual Tabletop for combat when necessary (like if it's a very tactical encounter as opposed to a simple face to face skirmish). Character voices are encouraged, but not necessary! I often use character voices for NPCs, but I will refrain upon request. I try to stick to rules as written, but I'm a sucker for creativity and will often rule of cool something rather than say no. All in all, I react to what my players put into the game. If you are passionate and engaged in the campaign, I will deliver that right back to you, and I will do what I can to encourage that level of engagement.

Gameplay details

An RPG consent form will be given to players before session 0 so I can go over any hardlined topics with the party anonymously. Session 0 will contain a discussion about what everyone expects out of the game and how we will accomplish those goals successfully. There will be time after allotted for debriefing and discussion if anyone needs to talk about the events of the game. Before, during, and after sessions, I will always be available for private messages and discussions so everyone can have a safe and fun session.

How will character creation work

You may make your characters before we start, or we can make them together during session 0. Characters will begin play at 3rd level using printed WotC material. I have some unlocked on DnD Beyond, and will enable content sharing within the campaign. Stats can be Standard Array, Point Buy, or 4d6 drop lowest.
