Woke in Waterdeep
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
Waterdeep! The Big Banana! The City of Splendors! What a place for adventure! A fresh face like yours better keep your eyes peeled or you might find the wool pulled over them as you get swept up in a whirlwind series of events that will see them dealing with multiple factions, powerful monsters, and all the dangers a magical city poses to a group of action heroes! A certain individual is putting a team together and they need capable, skilled, and daring individuals willing to do things on both sides of the line of law to undermine a powerful force. Within the boundaries of Waterdeep there are many factions vying for power and influence and with your Patron's guidance you'll infiltrate well guarded vaults, build up a base of operations, gather information, and commit many a crime all in the name of good! Being new to the game, your party will have to avoid the pitfalls of politics, stealthily navigate the streets of providence, and maybe say a prayer to Lady of Luck Tymora for good fortune just for a chance at success. But should you succeed, the rewards will be beyond your wildest dreams. Are you up to the challenge? Are you willing to risk it all? This campaign of Dragon Heist intends to go from Level 1 to level 12. This campaign will be heavily edited from the events of the pre-written adventure.

Jason is a caring DM that provides entire worlds of content and characters for his players, and goes above and beyond when it comes to time and adjustment to make sure they're having a great time. He makes for a wonderful experience and the foundations of roleplayer communities even beyond his direct sessions, and I would recommend him to almost anyone looking to get into tabletops.
The world-building as well as the openness to both roleplaying and combat allows the party to truly shine! While some fights seem harder than others, the feeling of getting through such tough battles allows one to feel as though one truly succeeded in the face of danger. I highly recommend him to any beginner 5e players or even veterans looking for a fun and exciting adventure!
Hello, I wish I could've clicked all of the tags! Jason is an INCREDIBLE GM. Not only is the setting and story thoroughly set up and prepped, it's engaging and captivating. He does a great job of immersing you in the story with tone, ambiance, and really cool voices! The gameplay runs smoothly, too. You can tell he has a firm grasp on the rules, and he cares about your characters + overall experience. I said: "Can my cross boomerang be almost as big as a person, for the flavor?" And he said: "Yes, absolutely." Love to see it! Rule of Cool forreal! We asked for a bit of a challenge with combat, and he delivered! I'm having so much fun with this campaign and would love, love, love to play another game with Jason. As a bonus side note: Jason was SUPER helpful in helping us set up our characters in Roll20. I'd only ever used it for maps, so there was a bit of a learning curve. Wouldn't have been able to do it without his help, and it was super appreciated! TLDR: Jason runs an amazing and engaging game, and he cares about the story and your characters! 10/10 would recommend!
First off, I wish I could have been able to click a few more tags. TLDR: Awesome game and awesome game master. Good for all experience levels. Creative and fun while also organized and knowledgeable. Had an AMAZING time. This was my first time using Start Playing. I will be honest I was very nervous about this whole thing, jumping in with a random GM and random players. This experience could not have turned out better. Besides having a creative setting, Jason is an excellent story teller. He set the mood, told a a fun story, allowed it to be a collaborative process when it needed to be, and did an exemplary job of making sure all of his players had a good time. It was a safe environment, a organized session (with amazing prep and pre-involvement from all players), and just fun, which is my main objective. As I told Jason when we ended the session, I look forward to gaming with him again at some point.

How to prepare
Make sure your internet is good and you can handle roll20 and discord. Otherwise webcams are optional, but please have a mic for communications ease. I'd love you to have a character idea in mind for session zero.
What I provide
We'll be using roll20 and discord, so i'll be providing all maps, music, voices and more digitally. I'll attempt to be as descriptive as possible while being concise enough to keep the game moving along.
Gameplay details
Session zero will include a conversation of what subject matter will be involved and what you would prefer be avoided or given heads up on, as well as the tools we will use before, during, and after the game to handle potential issues.

How will character creation work
I would love it if you had an idea for the character you're looking to play when we have session zero, but we'll deal with character creation then. You're allowed 1 feat with your background, even if it doesn't have one, and try to keep to setting appropriate materials, though all WOTC published material is allowed. Any homebrew needs to be put past me first. If you want to roll stats, you are guaranteed an 18 in one stat, assuming they aren't already wildly high, and if you take standard array or use point buy method, you get an extra feat.
