Rom'Myr - A Dying Earth | Fantasy Adventures at the Edge of Time

Rom'Myr - A Dying Earth | Fantasy Adventures at the Edge of Time

Dungeons & Dragons B/X, Dungeons & Dragons 1e | Campaign

About the adventure

Welcome to Valla'Tair, the City of Salt, Rom'Myr's last great city on the edge of time. The urban campaign is the promise of freedom: where PCs are encouraged to move about in three dimensions, plotting their heists from damp alleyways, fog-slick rooftops and foul sewers; where a quick tongue and clever wit is more deadly than the sharpest blade; where PC creativity, audacity, and roguish luck carry the day. It's the promise of exotic bazaars, forbidden seraglios, diabolical sorcerers and heathen cults, where lives are measured in silver and where - with enough gold - anything is possible. Had enough of the rough and tumble city life? Pass through the Ash Gate and explore the endlessly fascinating world of Rom'Myr, where forgotten knowledge an unknown artifacts wait to be discovered. Rom'Myr is a "Dying Earth". Dying Earth is a subgenre of science fantasy which takes place in the far future at the end of life on Earth, when the laws of the universe themselves fail. Dominant themes include world-weariness, innocence, idealism, entropy, heat death of the universe, exhaustion or depletion of many or all resources, and the hope of renewal.

I like old-school games, and Jay offers many different types fantasy, superheroes, science fiction. These are the 3 types I have played in. I like to roll dice and don’t like having to use a VTT or have multiple accounts to participate. He makes it easy to play. With just a camera and microphone I feel like I’m sitting around a table with fellow gamers. Jay knows what player agency is and he is usually able to handle whatever gets thrown his way. I never feel he is steering the game in a particular direction.

Can recommend Jay's swords & sorcery themed "World of Xoth" adventures. The setting and mood are very well dialed in. Scenes are vivid and often have good visuals. NPCs and villains are good. Action is fast paced and deadly.

Had the chance to play in Jay's games, inspired in Jack Vance's Dying Earth and Clark Ashton Smith's Averoigne. His grasp on the rules and the settings was superb, creating an immersive atmosphere with rich descriptions, colorful NPCs and challenging encounters.

Jay runs wildly creative games. Our first together was set in Jack Vance's, Dying Earth. So wild and cool, the game went in so many unexpected directions.

Jay is a great GameMaster because he encourages his players to build the world alongside him so that everyone feels involved with the whole setting from locations to the supporting cast. So if you enjoy a friendly game where you are actively encouraged to make a real positive impact not only on your characters but on the whole story itself I could not recommend anyone better.

How to prepare

You are expected to have a mic and video camera. Personal interaction around the table requires it for old-school play. You will need dice because you roll your own dice during the adventure. Download a copy of the custom character sheet for Rom'Myr, a Dying Earth.

What I provide

I will provide an on-air studio for gameplay. I will use pictures of the world, place locations, items, and characters you encounter to aid in visualizing the mysterious world. Most I draw myself, so Rom'Myr has a distinctive flavor and style. You will receive my campaign guide and "twenty questions answered" about Rom'Myr. Free rules and character sheets.
