About the adventure

With a flourish, I tip my purple top hat in your direction. Welcome, brave adventurer! You’ve been accepted into the illustrious and lucrative faction known as the Winter Walkers. Your destiny awaits you in the perilous lands of the Mammoth Lords, where you’ll carve out safe trade routes in treacherous terrain. Many have fallen, but you? You possess the grit and tenacity to etch your name into legend. Ready to rise to the challenge? Good. For on your journeys, you may stumble upon an adventure far grander than you ever imagined. This homebrew campaign, crafted by yours truly as the Dungeon Master, weaves together the rich tapestry of Golarion and an enchanting homebrew world beyond. (Consider this your first tantalizing teaser!) Perfect for beginners, as long as you have a taste for horror interwoven with your epic quests, I’ve equipped this campaign with the knowledge and tools necessary for your success, whether you’re a seasoned player or stepping into this realm for the first time. There are Pre-Generated Characters at your disposal, ready to leap into the action so you can dive into the fun immediately.

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Recruiting notes

This is a safe space for all LGBTQIA+, BIMPoC, and Women. Allies are of course welcome too!!!

I've been playing RPGs with captpandaddy for a few years now. Between random one shots and a long starfinder campaign we've had a lot of fun moments. If you have an idea for a character they'll give you some fun homebrew rules to help you with the fantasy you have for your character. I had a vesk who had a military leadership background, and they gave me a custom skill (leadership) which helped me convince enemies to join our side when they saw a capable leader. I was also given a custom devil shotgun and a devil minion, so I felt like a strong commander that lead from the front, and by example. He is still my favorite character I've had in an RPG to date, and none of it would have been possible without the amazing homebrew. Encounters always felt fair and exciting. Also willing to tone it down/up depending on the needs of the party. They will also help you if you're unsure of your characters abilities. Overall a stellar DM who cares about the players, and is willing to invest as much into your character as you are.

I have always had such an amazing time playing with Dan as my DM. I was brand new to the game when I joined and I was welcomed with open arms. Dan has always been very patient and accepting of the people we play with and I know that he puts a lot of work into each session to ensure we're all having a great time while playing an amazing story!

Creative and good at going with the flow and allowing players to do what they want.

This stalwart fellow has been a companion and GM for me for going on 9 years now. I love his sense of creativity and the freedom he gives his players to take control of situations. This means that sometimes very creative solutions to problems can arise that neither the party nor our illustrious GM can predict, leading to hilarity and a sense of accomplishment not found in many places other than a TTRPG. I would recommend him to anyone, especially someone just starting their sojourn into TTRPGs.

I've been part of several games with this GM and he's great. He works with players, creates fun and interesting worlds and plotlines, and is mindful of player safety.

I've been very lucky to be able to have CaptPanDaddy as a GM for a few years now. They are incredibly welcoming and friendly. You will be able to have a great experience whether you're a newcomer to role playing games or a veteran. They have a great attention to detail and well thought out stories and characters. If you choose CaptPanDaddy as a GM you will be in great hands!!

How to prepare

Preparing for Your Epic Campaign Adventure Gear Up: Computer or Laptop Required: You'll need a computer/laptop, as FoundryVTT doesn't work with mobile browsers. Discord: We’ll use Discord for our chat, video, and audio needs. I'll send you an invite to our dedicated server. Microphone: Ensure you have at least a mic to communicate. While I'll be using a camera I don't expect others to do so as FoundryVTT will likely block video being seen anyways. Getting Ready: Session 1 Prep: Before we embark on our first official session, try to get a general understanding of your character. Remember, it's my job to handle the rules so you can focus on the fun. Dive into the details as much or as little as you like.

What I provide

With a dramatic flourish, I empty my pockets. "What do I bring to the table? Well, where to start? I'm in my 30s and have over two decades of experience weaving epic tales and guiding heroic journeys in tabletop RPGs. I'm laid-back and always committed to my players' success! I love roleplaying but also know when it's my time as DM to step back and let my players shine. After all, this game is about you and your grand adventure! I champion the Rule of Cool over the Rules as Written. That means you get to do EPIC things in EPIC ways that can immortalize your name in history. I use FoundryVTT, making your life as a player incredibly easy. No downloads or software installations needed—just a simple URL link, and you'll be in the game server. On the server, you'll find all the tools and information we'll need to embark on our journey. FoundryVTT offers fantastic features to make the game as immersive as possible, including battle maps, tokens, music, and more. I’m here to help you create your character during Session 0, or if you prefer, I have pre-generated characters ready for you. No need to fret over the numbers—just dive in and play! For communication, we’ll use Discord. You'll need to download this program, but it provides us with chat, audio, and video communication. I have a server set up, and I'll share the link well before Session 0.

Gameplay details

Aftercare: Given the darker horror themes, I like to check in after each game to ensure everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves. My aim is to create a fun experience, not to cause distress. Consent Checklist: Once you join, you'll receive a link to the Monte Cooks RPG Consent Checklist. Only you and I will see this list, where you can indicate topics that are safe, background-only, or to be avoided. Session 0: Our first session will be an opportunity for introductions, character creation, and teaching new players the basics. It's a great way to get a feel for what to expect. X, N, O Cards: If a topic becomes too much, use these cards (via voice, camera, chat, or FoundryVTT) to indicate the need to pause. We will immediately stop the topic and either move on or take a break.
