About the adventure
Hello excited players! This is a demo of the highly-anticipated new indie system, Legend in the Mist, a spin-off of the acclaimed City of Mist. If you like fast-to-learn, narrative systems centering character interactions; classless, keyword-based character sheets; innocent-hero-on-a-quest fantasy settings like Lord of the Rings; or just want to explore a new system, come join me! Our adventure, "A Shadow in the Barley," opens in the fields outside of Ravenshome. No one is expecting an adventure - just a few locals meeting on a sunny afternoon. Adventures only happen in places far outside the Dales... right? But your comfortable, calm life is about to be interrupted - perhaps forever. The writers of the demo adventure expect gameplay to take 3-6 hours, so we will play in 2 sessions. I nthe first session, we will go over safety tools, learn the system, and begin the initial encounter. In the second session, we will jump right into the action and finish the adventure. Please plan to come to both sessions. No system knowledge needed!

How to prepare
Good audio and video help a lot! Make sure you have a working camera and mic for your laptop. I expect players to have video on by default, depending on your comfort level -- facial cues help so much! We will run the game using Discord, so make sure to join my server.
What I provide
We have a Discord channel for coordination before and during the session, a Spotify playlist for the game, and plenty of opportunity to get into character, especially for those who sign up for the game early. I am a character-driven GM, and this demo game will center your characters' relationships while exploring the setting and facing the unexpected threat of the Unknown.
Gameplay details
I'm a narrative-focused, character-driven GM who runs immersive, rules-light games. I'm also a lifelong Tolkien fan - and the combination means that Legend in the Mist is one of my favorite new systems! If you like to explore character dynamics more than dungeon crawls, this is a great game for you. We'll go over safety tools at the start of session, including a list of Lines and Veils to ensure everyone's emotional safety during game.

How will character creation work
We choose characters from the official demo characters and a variety of other choices created by myself and other Legend in the Mist enthusiasts. They'll be starting-level characters. At the start of session, we will establish relationships between the characters to deepen the roleplay opportunities.
