About the adventure
"Nothing ever happens in The Lap." It's an old joke that we've all heard before. Nevertheless, The Lap fills a very important need for the Scarlet Dynasty, as its fertile farmland provides food for much of the Dynastic South, and even some delicacies for the wealthiest of The Blessed Isle. The combination of its reputation for minimal intrigue and some of the finest wine in all of Creation means leading this Realm satrapy should be a cake walk, right? That's what Cathak Harlan thought when he took over as satrap for the verdant valley located under the watchful eye of The Penitent. And no doubt can be had that his time as satrap has gone swimmingly. However, his recent success has brought with it a taste for the finer things. He's been making shows of his excesses of wealth, which has been especially galling at a time when these excesses could go to the workers in his fields (or House Cathak's armies, given the Empress' absence, ahem). Now, Cathak Harlan plans his birthday party. High-ranking members of each noble house will be there, as well as closer-by nobility from Chiaroscuro, An-Teng, and Paragon. And while the nobility is focused on winning Harlan to their cause, things lurk in the shadows of The Lap, waiting for an opportunity to take what matter most to her... The Lap of Luxury is a campaign for Third Edition Exalted set in The Lap, with opportunities to explore other realms of Creation. There will be a fair bit of intrigue in this game, but I will make sure to include a healthy sprinkling of combat, as well. Exalted is a very crunchy game, and I am more than happy to walk every player through the important bits; you do not need to have played Exalted before joining this game. All you'll need is the core book (I can provide PDFs), a character sheet (again, PDFs), and a boatload of d10s (15 is a good starting point, and there's no shame in using a dice-roller app for this game). How to prepare
A microphone will be required, a webcam is highly preferable. We will be playing over Discord, so you will need that app, as well. Upon joining the Discord server, you will have access to PDFs of the Exalted books; I would highly recommend reading up on the setting's lore, and coming up with a character concept so that character creation can move fluidly.
What I provide
I am a voice actor, and will do my best to impart the NPCs with a life of their own. My games are very "Theater Of The Mind;" I don't use VTTs or minis, and most areas are very abstract and malleable to the wishes of the players. This is especially true for Exalted, where the Rule of Cool is sacred. I also bring music, both ambient, scene-enhancing music, and inspirational playlists centered around specific characters and scenes.
Gameplay details
For starters, any of the mentioned items in the Content Warnings area are up for debate; your safety and comfort is more important than my ability to touch on an edgy or potentially triggering story beat. We will have an extensive session zero to discuss lines and veils, as well as other safety tools in play, such as the X Card and the Red Rule. We will also use this session to establish character relationships, not just to the deceased, but to each other. Failure to respect the religion, gender, sexuality, neurotype, ability, or race of another player at the table is grounds for immediate removal from the campaign and Discord server. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of slurs, even if no one at the table is a member of the group to whom the slur is targeted.

How will character creation work
Character creation will be done together as much as possible; I realize there is a lot to go into with Char-Gen in Exalted, and I will do my best to walk each player through it step by step. I am allowing for multiple session zeroes in order to accomplish this.
