🌲Fairylark🌲A dark academia twist on famous fairy tale worlds!
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
🌲Fairylark🌲A dark academia twist on famous fairy tale worlds! Ours is a world built on stories. The fabric of reality is stitched together by tales, myths, and communal belief... And here in Wyndalrin belief is a hell of a thing. This collaborative storytelling experience is one of shared trust and an understanding that the story must keep getting told, that it does not exist without us... so imagine my surprise now that the story's taken on a life of its own. The stitching of Wyndalrin is fraying, the players and the characters begin to blend together, and the canon of different fantasy worlds begin to overlap. It is up to the players, students of the Fairylark Conservatory, to explore these well-known tales, and their worlds, now marred and unrecognizable due to the bleed of the more macabre tone of Wyndalrin and the influence it is having upon them. Best case scenario, the heroes will surgically separate these fairy tale worlds, the memories of their journeys slowly fade from their minds, and Wyndalrin goes back to being just a homebrew D&D setting for the players' amusement! Worst case scenario..? The shared thoughtspace devolves into non-canonical chaos, and our control of the characters and their stories slips through our fingers out into the pop-cultural consciousness. Explore Oz, Wonderland, Narnia, the Enchanted Forest and so much more! What's the worst that could happen?
Game style
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

How to prepare
Stable, reliable internet connection and audio quality required. Video preferred but totally optional. We will be using D&DBeyond for character sheets, and Discord for voice, video, campaign tracking, and battlemaps.
What I provide
I have access to all official content on D&DBeyond* as well as animated battle maps which we will be using via a screensharing VTT method. I prefer this approach as I feel it best emulates an at-the-table feel and reduces the amount of tabs and things for people to keep track of! *We will be using mostly, if not entirely, 2014 content. Any new 5th edition material released with the 2024 version of the rules will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Gameplay details
Session Zero allows the players to take the floor, ask questions about the setting, make requests for content they would (or would not) like to see. We will get you oriented with the Also Dragons server, discuss house rules and general community dynamic, and go through content-consent checklists to gauge levels of comfortability with subject matter that may (but will likely not) arise.

How will character creation work
Characters will start at 3rd level, in call, to allow for discussion of potential backstory connections and to allow consistency with the rest of the party. Nothing worse than a player making a character they are passionate about only to find that it's not a good fit for the setting or the party! There are some other details around equipment and house rules that will be elaborated on in Session Zero and may inform some player choices!
