About the adventure

Finally, the long-awaited Foundry VTT release is here. With a good dose of nostalgia and a few key surprises for the veterans, "Kingmaker" is being brought to the new generation of Pathfinder players, and to the sleek and elegant 2nd Edition rule set. With upscaled digital remasters of the original art, and brand new digital-only exploration and adventure location art, the Foundry release integrates the kingdom management tools for you to build and expand your growing realm, and more than ten hours of immersive audio. The Stolen Lands have long been the domain of bandits and monsters, but no longer! Your party has been granted a charter to explore these wilds, defeat its dangers, and build a brand new nation. Yet not everyone will welcome you as new neighbors, and powerful supernatural forces have their own plans for the region. Can you defeat your kingdom’s enemies and become leaders of one of the greatest new nations in the world? The Kingmaker Adventure Path presents a full-length campaign that chronicles the rise of a new nation—a kingdom built and ruled by your player characters! Face off against bands of bloodthirsty bandits, deadly and dangerous monsters, and mysterious menaces from other realities as you fight to claim the Stolen Lands as your own. Will you rule with justice and mercy, or will you become the very monsters you fought to oppose? In the Kingmaker Adventure Path, the destiny of the world’s newest nation is yours to decide! This is an epic, long-term campaign, incorporating both elements of exploration and a system of political growth in conjunction with character development. Play begins at 1st level, and we will be playing weekly at the same time for three to four hours. Please contact me for more information.

About me

Greetings, adventurers. My name is George, and I have been immersing myself in TTRPGs since around 2001. My journey into the realm of Game Mastering took a serious turn with the release of Pathfinder. My background in theatre, history, and education has been instrumental in shaping my GM style, which emphasizes dramatic conflict, challenging decisions, and character development. I’ve had the pleasure of engaging with a diverse and international player population, both online and in person. This experience has enriched my understanding of the game and its global appeal. The games I run are primarily drawn from official Paizo publications for Pathfinder, supplemented by key resources from publishers like Kobold Press and Sly Flourish. In each campaign, I make it a point to engage with the player characters’ backgrounds. This begins with a session zero where we collaboratively create characters that align with the theme of the campaign. Each campaign I run is a unique world unto itself. I strive to create a distinctive and consistent atmosphere for each one, whether it’s the dark and grim tone of a horror campaign or the epic battles of a high fantasy adventure. Some campaigns may include unique mechanics tailored to their theme. My games, even when played remotely online, aim to emulate the feel of a traditional tabletop experience as much as possible. I prefer to keep technology from overwhelming the gameplay, allowing us to focus on the human elements of the game - the people around our virtual table. I am always available to answer questions through this site. If you have any doubts before signing up for a session, please contact me. I am always eager to hear from established parties who are looking for a new GM. Whether you have already been gaming together, or you are a group of friends, coworkers, or a family group, I would love to embark on an adventure with you. I am also open to requests from existing/ongoing groups for a specific campaign for your party. Whether you have a published module in mind or just an idea that you’d like to develop, I’m here to help you play the game you want to play! Remember, the essence of tabletop gaming is to have fun and create memorable stories together. Let’s roll the dice!

Character creation

Creating your character

Play will begin at 1st level. All characters shold be created on Foundry VTT, but most players prefer to use an external tool such as Pathbuilder to experiment with when planning their character. Foundry gives you all of the tools require to create and develop your character, and you do not need to purchase any content. Thanks to Forge hosting, you will have access to your character outside game time. All player characters will advance at the same pace, regardless of absences. Players who join late will join at the current party level, with appropriate equipment. Much more information about creating a suitable character for this adventure path is available in the official player guide from Paizo at: https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6si5a?Introducing-the-Kingmaker-Player-s-Guide

The current party

Decide the future of the Stolen Lands, in this unique kingdom-building adventure. Whether you are a veteran of the video game, or experiencing the story for the first time, the 2nd edition version of the adventure has been expanded with new art, new maps, and enough twists and surprises to make this a memorable journey for everyone. A 1st to 20th level adventure that truly takes you more lowly adventurer to master of the realm, while both your character and your domain increase in power.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A good quality microphone (preferably a headset) is required to use Discord. I also strongly encourage players to use video during games. Games using video conferencing are usually more enjoyable for all parties, as video prevents misunderstandings and miscommunication. In addition you will need (free) accounts for Discord and Forge - the site hosting our Foundry VTT session.

What George brings to the table

All handouts, maps, art, and character-building resources will be provided electronicaly either through Foundry or Discord. The Foundry module for this adventure is spectacularly well produced, and should provide a smooth and immersive experience.

Homebrew rules

We will be using the Free Archetype Optional Rule and the Gradual Ability Boost Optional Rule.

Safety

How George creates a safe table

The game contains the usual amount of fantasy violence in a Pathfinder 2nd Edition campaign. In addition, the political aspects of the story mean that the player characters will somtimes be faced with difficult decisions that might mirror real world political, religious, and social conflicts. During our session zero, we will use a tool called "Lines and Veils" to established our own limits on how we want to treat sensitive content in our sessions. Additionally, a digital version of the "X" card will be available during play. We will also take at least one fifteen-minute break about halfway through the game time. Finally, at the end of the session we will use a feedback tool called "Stars & Wishes" to allow everyone to highlight moments of the game they enjoyed, and what they look forward to seeing more of in the future. Any language or behavior that makes other players feel unsafe or unwelcome at the table, or that prevents other players from fully participating in the game, will not be tolerated.
