How to prepare
Technical Issue - All players must be able to reliably access and use the two digital mediums by which this game will be run upon. Those two digital mediums are Foundry VTT and Discord. Each player will have the use of these Mediums gone over with them during their intake session. With extra instructing add/giving to those to whom use of these Mediums may be a challenge. If after all best efforts have been made in good faith by both Player and Gm/ST and an inability to reliable access/use these two mediums. Then the player will be asked to leave the game, until such a time as they can utilize these Mediums to the best of their ability. Side note: This rule has also been expanded to include a reliable internet connection and possible even the use of a headphone and microphone if their normal means of communication is for some reason causing issues with reliable play. Side, side note: The GM/ST recognizes that some of us live in Florida, Texas, or other third-world counties/countries and sometimes things happen beyond your control. Players will not be punished for acts of God, Government, War, or missed internet payments. Things happen. But if said things are continuing to happen over and over again, then we will need to revisit the idea of said player taking a break from the game until reliable play can be established once more.
What I provide
What I Bring to the Game: I will bring a fully prepared module adventure, with custom maps, tokens, and content from Foundry Vtt and D&D Beyond. I in general prefer RPGing and fun over rules but will stick to them on most occasions. I do character voices, and custom A.i. art when I can find the time, and in general will use liberal use of the Rule of Cool. I also expect players to have fun, follow the rules of conduct, and keep open and honest communication between myself and the other players.
Gameplay details
The Rule of Conduct: These Rules of Conduct emphasize creating a fun and inclusive gaming environment where everyone feels comfortable and respected. They stress the importance of open communication, mutual respect, and adherence to rules while prioritizing player agency and enjoyment. Rules of Conduct • Technology: Players must be able to access and use Foundry VTT and Discord reliably. • Communication: Practice listening carefully on Discord to avoid interrupting others. Use text channels for side conversations. • Substance Use: Avoid being drunk or high during game sessions. • Cellphones: Put cellphones on silent or do not disturb. • Attention: Focus, when necessary, but occasional lapses in attention are understandable. • Disruptive Topics: Avoid topics that make other players uncomfortable. • Secrets: The GM knows all PC secrets. • Expectations: Players can express their desires for the game, and the GM will try to accommodate them. • Discomfort: If anything makes a player uncomfortable, they should speak up immediately. • Fun: The main goal of the game is to have fun. • Signals: Use signals (Green, Yellow, Red) to communicate comfort levels during the game. • Agency: Players should always feel like they have agency over their character. • Balance: The GM will work to keep the game balanced and fair. • Spotlight: Everyone should get a chance to shine. • Game Type: This is a social game with an ensemble cast; players should participate in each other's plots. • Meta-knowledge: Avoid using meta-knowledge to derail the story. • Min-Maxing: Focus on fun and story, not just min-maxing. • Party Fit: No lone wolves; characters should be part of the group. • Murder Hobos: Avoid playing as murder hobos. • Behavior: Be mindful of others' pet peeves and make an effort to curb bothersome behaviors. • Absences: Avoid excessive no-shows or last-minute cancellations. • Narrative Authority: The Lore skill allows players to influence the game world, but not at the expense of fun or story. • Gender Identity: Players will be referred to by their preferred gender identity. • Attraction & Orientation: Players can opt out of unwanted romantic advances. • Sex, Rape, & Assault: Explicit sexual content will not be depicted. Rape and sexual assault will not be tolerated in the game. • Racism & Prejudice: In-game racism and prejudice will be present, but not tolerated between players. • Alignment: Avoid playing as characters who are excessively cruel or destructive. • Plots: The GM will try to create customizable plots that interweave player backstories. • Rules Debates: The GM has the final say in rules debates. • No means No: The GM may veto player requests for certain plots or character types. • In-game Activities: Players can expect opportunities for roleplaying, action, drama, and romance. • Politics & Factions: In-game politics and factions will be less emphasized unless players desire it. • Character Creation: Players will start as part of the same Party with pre-established relationships. • Death: Character death is more than possible. • Resurrection: Resurrection is difficult but possible under certain circumstances.
