About the adventure

🗡️ Deep within Highhelm's majestic halls, you have been called by one of its most prestigious clans to join their time-honored festival—a resplendent celebration where family legends and ancient traditions interwine within the mountain's heart, but do not be distracted by the glittering lights and flowing mead. While citizens make merry and tables are set with mouth-watering feasts, dark forces move in the shadows below the very mountain itself. An ancient treasure—one that could change the course of fate within Highhelm—has vanished into the depths and you must seek it out. This is no simple heist, brave adventurer. Every step through the mountain's shadowed depths will test your wit, your steel, and your resolve. You'll forge bonds with the most unlikely of allies, each harboring their own secrets. But act swiftly—a powerful enemy already moves quickly and surreptitiously through these shadowed corridors, their footsteps echoing ever closer to the legendary Sky King's Tomb. Will you answer the call that fate has sounded? Dare you descend into the chambers where even the bravest dwarven heroes fear to tread? The very foundation of Highhelm trembles with ancient secrets, and time grows desperately short. Steel your nerves, prepare your spells, and sharpen your blades—this is your moment to write your name in legend. The mysteries of the mountain await, but only if you have the courage to seize them. The choice lies before you, heroes. Will you watch from safety as darkness claims its prize, or will you plunge into the depths and battle for the fate of Highhelm itself? 🗡️

How to prepare

You will need to join Discord (you will receive an invite to the channel after you sign up) as that is where the main point of our communication happens in voice chat, which means you will also need a microphone to be able to communicate and play in the sessions. I do not require my players to use video, but you are welcome to if you would like to do so. Also, as I stated in the Character Creation section, I highly recommend you read through the player's guide for the AP before our first session as it will not only give you recommendations for your character creation, but it will also give you a bit more background into the story and setting of the further adventure. The link to Foundry and the password for this campaign will also be pinned in the main group chat channel for this campaign.

What I provide

We'll be playing through this adventure path utilizing the Foundry module from Paizo, which includes all the maps for the adventure and your digital character sheets. I also use various modules to optimize the gameplay experience for everyone. Music and various ambient sounds will also be provided through the VTT platform to offer a more immersive auditory experience. And finally, as someone who has a background in theatre, I do utilize voice acting to create more realistic NPCs to help bring the world to life.

Gameplay details

We will cover all of the safety tools utilized in the campaign during session 0 for the in and out of Foundry. Players will also receive the Monte cook RPG consent checklist during session 0 to fill out in return prior to session 1. Players will be able to also speak with me individually if they need any additional accommodations not covered in session 0. Player consent and comfort at the table is of utmost importance, so please do not hesitate to speak with me. Even though we may sometimes deal with sensitive subject matter depending on the TTRPG we are playing, there are some subjects that will never be broached in any of my sessions. The following will not be part of our storytelling or the environment at my table: đźš« Sexual abuse đźš« Child Abuse/Exploitation đźš« Abuse of domestic animals (e.g. pets) đźš« Self-Harm due to traumatic/negative events đźš« Real-life religion đźš« Real-life politics đźš« Ableism and Transphobia (in or out of game)

How will character creation work

I ask that before you come into our session 0 that you start working out ideas for your character using Pathbuilder, so that we can flesh out and finalize your characters during session 0 and get them imported into Foundry. We will be starting at level 1 for the Adventure. Also, if you have character art or a HeroForge image created for your character, make sure to have those ready so that your tokens can be added into the VTT. I also recommend that you look at the Sky King's Tomb Player's Guide for Ancestry, Class, and Background suggestions for your level 1 characters, which can be found at https://downloads.paizo.com/SkyKingsTombPlayersGuide.pdf as this free guide provides some excellent options/ideas for character creation that will fit in best with this particular adventure path.
