About the adventure

"You're a foul one, Mr. Lich, Your flesh smells like decay! For the crimes you have committed, there will be such hell to pay! Mr Lich!" --- AN EPIC HOLIDAY ONE-SHOT ADVENTURE! Step into a festive tale like no other, where rhymes fill the air, and the fate of Christmas is in your hands! "HOW THE LICH STOLE CHRISTMAS" is a whimsical 4 hour Dungeons and Dragons Level 3 one-shot designed to spread holiday cheer while challenging heroes of all levels! A bold young girl has escaped the clutches of a sinister force -- but the other children remain trapped in the heart of a snow-covered mountain. Do you have the courage to face the foul Lich and rescue them? Snowy landscapes, festive NPCs and a villain dripping with sinister holiday charm makes this a wonderful avenue to celebrate the holidays the D&D Way! (Image produced by NightCafe AI)

How to prepare

Discord requires a mic of some sort. To be able to use Roll20's maps feature you will need to access Roll20 through a browser (Chrome/Firefox preferred), be it on desktop, laptop tablet or phone. You will join my Discord and the Roll20 game prior to game start, and you will need to create Level 3 characters in D&D Beyond (using the browser extension Beyond20 for rolls to occur in Roll20) or in Roll20. I am happy to work with beginners and neurodivergent players in whatever challenges they may have regarding playing with sufficient advance notice.

What I provide

We will use D&D Beyond for character creation, Roll 20 for active gameplay/maps the day of, and Discord for voice chat during the game. Use of music during the game will be up to the players; I enjoy using it but I know it can be distracting to some. I do use Rules As Interpreted as a framework but love to use Rule of Cool for "big moments" in the game. You will receive a fun, whimsical holiday-themed story that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Gameplay details

Although this one shot is relatively tame, we will still use lines and veils to determine if there's anything that does need to be "lined or veiled". We will use verbal cues during the game to serve the function of X, N and O cards, and players have an open door to step away from the game as needed. At the end, I will open a discussion for how the players are feeling and ask for stars and wishes for feedback about the game and my part as a DM.
