About the adventure
You've heard the stories from the Grognards, maybe around the table talking about the "good 'ol days". Maybe they told tales of how deadly that temple was, or how one character went nose to nose with Heracles, or maybe the Kraken WAS released! This is how I am hoping our group talks about the escapades a year, five years, ten years down the line. However, before you tell those stories, you need to experience the game. Shadowdark RPG is perfect to experience that threat of losing your character just to come out of the dungeon with a treasure chest of gems, and maybe, just maybe a relic of an ancient god, sending you on a greater adventure. This campaign will be for beginners and new players alike.

About me
Well met. I'm a traveler of many realms and (I don't mind saying) I've mastered a few of them. Some had spies, a couple of jungle wars, fast cars, people with guns wearing hats, gods among extraordinary beings in tights and capes, and many many dragons. After a brief dimensional travel to a world with rats and colorful illusions, I have returned to master the dragons of this realm. Will you join me on this expedition? All of that aside, Hey there, I'm Scott (he/him) but I go by Greegan or Greegs sometimes. I've been playing and mostly running DnD games since the 80's. I want to Game Master your adventure in ShadowDark (and in the future Alien RPG). And please don't let the Games Hosted fool ya. I've been running free campaigns since September 2024.

Creating your character
The full campaign will be free to play. Level 1 PCs, rolled up during Session 0 (3d6 drop for six stats, if none are equal or greater than 14, reroll stats again). I will encourage each player to roll up two characters although one will be played at a time. We will begin the campaign with the Core Rules character Ancestries and Classes along with the Bard and Ranger from Arcane Library. As the campaign develops we may explore other options. I use some rules/equipment from the Expanded Equipment supplement, ie spell catalysts. Characters can be generated on https://shadowdarklings.net/ and you will send me the PDF so I may add the character to Fantasy Grounds. You may also create your character in FGU if you are familiar with the application. I strongly recommend finding some tutorial videos on YouTube on using Fantasy Grounds Unity (FGU). If you do not feel you may want to use this application, please contact me.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A link (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/) for Smiteworks and Fantasy Grounds Unity, a Web cam is not necessary, however a mic is required for Discord (with a Discord account), patience. Although i will have the book available during the campaign, the Quickstart Set can be downloaded here: https://www.thearcanelibrary.com/products/shadowdark-rpg-quickstart-set-pdf Fantasy Grounds Unity requires a download (free). If you run a Mac, I am unfamiliar with the OS.
What Game Master Greegan brings to the table
I will be hosting our campaign on Fantasy Grounds Unity, which will mostly help with combat and give a sense of environment. With that I have ambient music and sound effects via Syrinscape. Otherwise we can play the campaign the old-school way, "Theatre of the Mind". Combat is fast-paced in Shadowdark RPG. All players get to participate at a good pace and our game will be no exception. Rules As Written is what Shadowdark players expect and I won't change that.
