Sets the Mood
Although my time in the Strixhaven campaign was unfortunately short-lived, Andy was a fantastic DM. He gives players the freedom to have fun with their characters, does fun voices for his NPCs, uses VTT to its full potential so playing felt seamless. He promotes a chill atmosphere at the table and ensures everyone is comfortable.
I joined Andy's Strixhaven group a few months ago and I've really been enjoying the way he runs his table. The voices he does for characters give them all unique personalities and quirks that helps the game world feel more alive. On the technical side, he also does a lot of work to make the VTT experience enjoyable and convenient for players. And on the player experience side, I really like that he gives each character time in the spotlight each session, to make sure that character development can happen for all of the player characters at the table.
Andy is the 2nd DM that I've played with, first on SPG. He has made the space welcoming and friendly. He keeps session notes, creates narratives, voices, and storytelling in an engaging way. Most of all, he listens to his players and knows when to use his DM authority in a respectful way.
I am so happy I joined this campaign run by Andy. I played in one campaign before a couple of years back, and although I enjoyed it a lot, I hesitated to start again. Because I forgot all the rules. Because I have very busy life, and I was wondering I could commit to the weekly sessions. And because of lots of other reasons that do not matter anymore, because I have so much fun now playing in his group and every week I'm looking forward the next session. I joined in the 2nd session and Andy was very welcoming and made sure I could catch up in an easy and natural way. He accommodates and engages both experienced players and (almost) newbies, listens actively to players to find out what elements of the game they enjoy most and comes up with fun ways to facilitate those. And there are lots of good laughs. :) I can only recommend him as a Game Master. If anyone out there reading this and hesitating: don't. Just sign up. (You're welcome!)
