About the adventure
Welcome to Starfinder, a space TTRPG that blends blends a fantasy setting with the advanced technology of science fiction. The game is made by the same publishers as the creators of Pathfinder, which itself is based off of DnD 3.5 Edition. This makes Starfinder an ideal choice if you play DnD and want to branch out to a new TTRPG, since the rules are easier to get a grasp on. A few notable things Starfinder does different to DnD 5e include: - In addition to a class, you can also choose a theme, containing minor abilities and +1 to a certain stat - No Proficicy Bonus, classes instead allocate skill points to determine the bonus given to checks. - Two new universal resource pools: Stamina points are removed before Health points and are easier to recover, while Resolve points are very limited and used in certain class abilities, and to quickly recover other stats. - Guns and grenades are much more prominent, and can fit attachments the improve their statistics. I will be running the 'Junker's Delight' premade module. It sends the party deep into a field of wrecked ships in order to find the Stellar Flare, and the secrets it holds within. The adventure starts the characters at level one (of 20), and will reach level 4 by the end of it. Before we start, I will have a conversation with all player regarding their expectations and desires for the adventure, along with the safety measures. Overall, I will not stop players from pursuing any action they desire, and will attempt to make the world feel fleshed out and colourful. You now have the tools for your quest, what you do with them is up to you. Good luck adventurers...

About me
For a while, all I knew about TTRPGs was the existence of Dungeons and Dragons. I received the rulebook for my birthday, and a small module for Christmas. I didn't manage to find much success in local games (aside from the short-lived campaign that gave me the role of 'stop my teammates from killing everybody'). Eventually, I realized that the Internet was a good place to find games as well, which led me into a short-lived but amazing group. Soon after that, I immediately decided to try DMing a game myself. But I didn't run DnD; I instead ran Starfinder, a delightful blend of sci-fi and magic. From there, my horizons broadened. I began reading many different rulebooks, learning about all sort of different systems, from Star Wars to Cyberpunk to Warhammer 40K. Unfortunately, I faced the dreaded nemesis of scheduling, who's deadly lack of time prevented me from running any games. Luckily, the dice of fate rolled in my favour, and I discovered play-by-post. After initial hesitation, I embraced the style, and I am now ready to give others on the Internet a door into amazing worlds and adventures where fun will be had by all. TTRPGs are truly an amazing thing to experience. Arguably their biggest strength is the fact that there is something for everybody, from newbies to veterans, role-players to minmaxers, scifi to steampunk to eldritch to fantasy, a TTRPG is a way to provide people with amazing collaborative experiences (and potentially some lifelong friends). If I had to sum up my GMing style in one sentence, it would be: 'I want to create rich and varied worlds/stories that players can leave their mark on, while ensuring that everybody in my games feels safe'.

Creating your character
All characters will be starting at level 1, and there is no restriction on books. Statistics can either be chosen by Array or Point Buy. As this is intended for beginners, I will not be allowing homebrew. Players will not be charged until all characters have been created and everybody is ready to start.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
In order to take part in the game, you will need: An account on hephestaios, a character creation site for Starfinder. An account on Discord, a social media chatting site. Knowledge of the Starfinder Core Rules
What GM James brings to the table
I will provide a Discord server within which players can convers about the game, as well as speak in character due to a bot I am using. I am not objecting to Rule of Cool, but players should always ask rather and assuming. I will also provide images and suitable background music for my scenes. Additionally, I will converse with players and find their expectations and meet them as best I can. Overall, players will be given little restrictions on their actions and how they can approach problems, but player characters are not above consequences (they will still be punished for crimes they commit, for example). If any players are uncertain how to create their character/have any rules questions/need help making their character's backstory, I will be happy to assist players in any way I can.
