Root: The Roleplaying Game | Campaign

About the adventure

If you go down in the woods today, You'd better not go alone. It's lovely down in the woods today, But it's safer to stay at home. Join our team of Vagabonds wandering the Woodlands searching for wealth, power, and prestige, taking advantage of the great war tearing the woodlands apart. Join (or reject) the many factions vying for control while keeping in mind your own number one mantra: Chaos is a Ladder. 🦊 Woodland Critters 🌳 Beautiful Forests 🏺Incredible Riches 👑 Eternal Glory (or infamy!) 😎 Vibe Check This is a new game, so players will have the opportunity to create the vibe. The game has a general "cute woodland critters playing Game of Thrones" vibe. Join at the beginning of the game to help design the settings and feel of the game and team! About the Game: This Powered by the Apocalypse game takes players deep into the Woodlands, based on the board game "Root: A Game of Woodland Might and Right." Characters are Vagabonds wandering the woodlands, contending with various factions as they take advantage of the chaos to reshape the war and the Woodlands themselves. I provide everything needed besides a working microphone and Discord. Players will be asked to fill out a survey of lines, veils, and consent preferences before the campaign. Let's have a great time exploring the woods together! The Experience: 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ A safe space to be the hero you want, judgment-free 🧑‍🎤 Multidimensional NPCs 🌌 Theater of the Mind 🎻 Dynamic scoring Art courtesy Magpie Games and used in line with Magpie Games Art Pack Guidelines. Game style

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Party notes

Join us as we start out on our adventure! Being part of the game right from the beginning gives you a great deal of say in the team, goals, and ideas that you may wish to feature in the game.

Very professional and thorough session 0. We got through everything and landed on the same page in time to roll some dice and feel out our characters. Great tone to set for the campaign, excited to play more!

I've only played one session so far, but Delphi has been incredibly friendly and helpful. He spent so much extra helping me get my character created and made sure I was quickly and seamlessly integrated into the game.

This was my first time playing with a pro DM and for a one-shot campaign, Delphi pulled off a special experience. The setting was unique and well thought out, yet with ample room to cater to the players' sensibilities and even customize on the fly. Players' curiosity and creativity were amply rewarded. Delphi administered the session with authority, yet did so while being extra mindful of players' feelings, keeping the story going but without anyone feeling unheard or left behind. Also of note; Delphi knows the rules: very nice to have a DM who understands the differences between all the skills, such as Investigation, Perception, Nature, and Survival!

How to prepare

Players should join the Discord as soon as possible to ensure they are prepared to play. All communication and information about the game will be sent through Discord. Digital rolls will be available through Discord.

What I provide

I will bring everything else, including a great story and unique setting for our superhero school! Be ready for a great time.

Gameplay details

While the game features cute woodland critters, the themes of this game are quite adult, including warfare and speciesisms and all that those major themes entail. Session 0 will be spent going over expectations, lines, and veils. We also always have a few minutes at the end of the session to discuss the session and any necessary aftercare. Players should expect an R or MA-level adventure.
