About the adventure
The Royalty of Equestria have done their best to keep the lands peaceful and happy, but there is a new darkness coming. The Elements of Harmony are being discovered in new ponies, who will rise to face off with the dangers that await them ---------- *Perfect For Family Events! This is My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic- based, so this is a game for all ages! *New Players Welcome! This is a campaign using the Essence20 My Little Pony ruleset, so everyone will be able to grow and learn together. *All Players Included! This table will be a welcoming and safe space, for any player to come enjoy themselves, regardless of identity. *Full Campaign! I have a few introductory stories we can pick from based on your characters, but each run is different from the next. I will weave your characters into the fabric of the story, including callbacks to any history, and plotlines to have the world come alive for you. Soon after we introduce ourselves and get acquainted with the world, we will have a full fledged campaign running!

About me
AKA AJ Black on the interwebs! I've been a gamer for years, and tabletops were just a natural evolution of that. My first memory of playing was a Star Wars adventure with my brother and uncle, and I've been hooked ever since. It was only a matter of time until I got the itch to host games, and the catalyst for it was my partner, who'd never played tables before but was interested. I gathered a group of friends around us, and I never looked back. 8 games, 4 years, and a lot of lessons later, here we are. I am still growing, and I'll be the first to admit that, but my focus is on ensuring my players have a great time to forget about life's problems for a few hours. I specialize in Star Wars games, but have branched out recently into a few different things, including the new Marvel game that released last year, and Dr. Who. When you play with me, you get a DM who's just as excited for every session as (hopefully) their players are! You also get someone who's laid back and follows the rule of cool more often than not. I play my games almost exclusively through Discord, mostly afternoons/evenings, and we use theatre of the mind, though if the situation calls for it I will discuss other options. The only thing I ask is that if we set up a time to meet, please keep me appraised of what's going on. I understand that sometimes life happens, and I will work with you, but I can't do anything if I don't know about it. Let me know ASAP if you need to drop or skip a session, and I will accommodate you to the best of my ability.

Playing in AJ's Star Wars Saga Edition game has fulfilled a childhood dream of mine. His familiarity with the Hutts module is a huge strength. But more than that, he's created a homebrew system stemming from the original module, so that you can just plug a player character into it, pick a Star Wars setting, and go. If you have an original character whose life you've wanted to see play out, I cannot recommend enough playing a Saga Edition campaign with AJ. "The Trouble With the Hutts" is just a stepping stone to so much more.
AJ has been a very kind and transparent game master; they had a very informative on boarding process that delved into ttrpg safety tools and expectations for the game. This was only my first look into the open communication and player agency they model at their tables. AJ was willing to work with me to make a character that had initially crossed their comfort zone due to the fact they were not expecting anything like it. Being prepared for everything is not the mark of a good game master, instead it is being open minded to face and adapt to anything, which AJ showed they could do. They are transparent about their availability and they uphold healthy response time expectations for themselves and the table. I think if you're new to this scene, AJ has the story telling skill and table management experience to be able to make you fall in love with ttrpgs with a style that feels more like a gentle hand rather than a shove forward.
Character creation
Creating your character
We will make characters during our Session 0, after we go over everything related to world-building. That being said, character IDEAS are fantastic. But the actual creation will be with everyone that way we can bounce off of each other and begin to weave our narrative together.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
*Discord REQUIRED (It's Free) *Audio REQUIRED (You don't have to talk, but you do have to be able to hear me. Whether that's headsets, speakers, etc) *Voice ENCOURAGED but not required- we have text channels for those unwilling/unable to talk *Cameras NOT REQUIRED (If you want to, then feel free) *A way to take down character notes (Pen/Pad, Google Docs, etc)
What Brandon brings to the table
I will provide the Discord links, and everything you need to make a character during Session 0. When it comes to in-game play, I prefer to use theatre of the mind, so there is very little in the way of maps and things. THIS WILL BE VERY HEAVY ROLEPLAY! I will discuss characters and how they work, so that I can weave them into the story as it continues, and because it's a kid's game, most of the stories can be resolved with minimal violence. Talking solves a lot of problems here.

How Brandon creates a safe table
I always do a Session 0 so that we can go over the content as well as discuss anything that needs discussed. I will be messaging my players individually as well, so that some lines can stay anonymous. When it comes to pause cards (X,N,O) those are an all hands, any time deal. Whenever something crosses the line or someone feels like we are heading that way, they can do whatever makes them best comfortable, whether thats sending me a private message or flat out stopping the game. I value my players' security and comfortability, while also acknowledging that sometimes you don't know what's too much until you hit it. So at any time, at any moment, in any scene, my players can stop the action so that we can discuss it.
