About the adventure

15 years ago, the city of Drakkenhiem was hit by a purple glowing meteor. Now abominations stalk the nearly vacant streets, clouds of purple mist drift from the crater created by the impact, the center of the city lies in ruins while the outer areas are scarcely populated. The purple glowing shards of the meteor have become both the desire and bane of many who enter the city seeking fame, fortune, or family missing since the devastation of the city. Trailer for the setting can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wnGvCvIkq8 Are you brave enough to enter the city and find your fortune or fate? Will you avoid contracting the madness which haunts those who spend too much time in the city? Do you have the wits and cleverness to avoid the more dangerous of the deformed abominations which hunt for prey in the ruined streets? Can you avoid contamination from the eldritch clouds which infuse the city which causes horrible mutations or mind-altering madness? What mysteries will you discover hidden within the ruins of this once majestic city? In this adventure, you will: šŸ§™šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø Brave the risks to explore the ruins of the city and discover its secrets. šŸ‘¹ Confront eldritch horrors and abominations which stalk the streets and alleyways. šŸ’° Seek the treasured magic-imbued crystals for which people will pay handsomely to obtain. šŸ”Ž Discover the fate of those who lived in the city, especially the royal family. āš–ļø Navigate the factions who seek to control or reclaim the city for their own goals. šŸŽ† Become the heroes you were destined to be. This is a character-driven campaign with a sandbox feel. There are five major factions to contend with, either allying with one or carefully navigating a truce between several. For every action you take as a party or individual, there are reactions of the factions or the creatures which dwell within the city. You determine your end goal and how to attain it.

Recruiting notes

This is a grim dark campaign with potential for character mutations, insanity, and mental stress. Please be advised. As such, there will be follow up after each session to make sure everyone is comfortable with moving forward. There is a dedicated Discord server for this game. Review notes are posted for each session detailing the events and actions of the party. Sessions will be audio recorded to construct these detailed notes.

Additional details

How to prepare

Please have a microphone, headset or headphones, and stable internet access. An account on Roll20 and Discord will be required to play. Information on the factions of Drakkenheim is available on the discord server and in the game on Roll20. A list of perspective goals within the city is also listed to aid in character backstory development. Each faction has various boons and benefits to being in good favor with them. Likewise, there are drawbacks to being in opposition to a given faction, and your actions individually and collectively as a party will determine your reputation with each faction.

What I provide

In this campaign you will enjoy extensive maps, critical handouts, interesting NPCs, and new, challenging creatures. Music and ambient sounds are specially chosen to accompany the session and add to the tone of play. I bring ease of play mods and macros to the game to allow you to focus on the play and not your character sheet. I have added many new areas and information to the base campaign to enable the play to go wherever the players wish to take it. The following compendiums are available within the game: PBH (2014), Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, Monster Manual, Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, Tal'Dorei Reborn, Dungeons of Drakkenheim Within these compendiums, all species choices presented are available. Home brewed material or published material outside of the compendium items listed above must be discussed with me before we agree together to allow it within the game. If you have any specific character requests, please discuss them with me. A selection of pre-generated characters is also available.

Gameplay details

Session 0 will cover the table rules, campaign outline and warnings, lines and veils, before getting into character creation and any further questions. X, N, O cards are available during game play to halt the activity so we can rewind and discuss or replay with a change to avoid any sensitive issues. After the game, I am around on the discord server for a debrief and discussion of game play, issues, wishes and stars, and potential direction for the next session. Outside of the game, I make myself available to discuss any issues which you may have and come to a suitable change or compromise to situations which need to be addressed.
