About the adventure

I will be running Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat back to back. This will be the first part of the adventure with brand new level one characters. I am open to new and old players alike I have introduced many people to DND and am very comfortable answering questions while keeping pacing of the game going. I want to really create an epic story with your character as the focal point. Together we will create the direction you want to see your character go and I will make sure to highlight those points and bring backgrounds to life.

About me

Greetings and well met! I have been enamored with fantasy since I could walk and have been playing and dming for almost 10 years. I am a storyteller at heart and love seeing DnD as a collaborative approach to storytelling. I enjoy a healthy blend of combat and RP and most of all focus on what my players want and that at the end of the day everyone is having fun. I love both home brewed campaigns or running premade campaigns. My personal favorite settings are classic high fantasy, gothic fantasy and mixed steampunk fantasy. My favorite premade campaigns I've been apart of have been Princes of the Apocalypse and Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden. I love playing wizard whenever I have a chance to be a player. Everyone is welcome at my table and I hope to see you there!

Character creation

Creating your character

All official dndbooks are allowed at my table and I am willing to work around any variant rule that was added since 2014 to now. If you wish to use point buy system feel free to create a character through dndbeyond and bring it to session 0. If you would like to roll for stats we will do so using the avrae bots !randchar command to ensure fairness to all players. Starting level will be level 1 and gear will be the base gear your class receives.

The current party

Welcome all! We are towards the middle of the adventure at level 6, currently the party has a ranger a barbarian and a cleric. I would love to integrate your characters fully into this dragon filled epic adventure!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord will be required as that will be where I am hosting the game. A Mic is required to be able to talk with me and the rest of the players in a timely fashion but no webcam is required. You will also need a DnDBeyond account in order to join the campaign, create a character, and see the maps I am using. Characters do not need to be created before session 0, but it will be helpful for the group if you come with a character in mind.

What Kai brings to the table

I love to create stories of grand adventure and will do my absolute best to make your characters sound and feel like the badass they are. I will narrate actions in combat and give a feeling to turns other than just "I swing my sword" including visualizing why a failure may have occurred other than "You miss" I love the use of maps and VTT in order for players to easily see what is going on during action packed moments and I try and allow for tactical combat where good planning on the players part will actually be felt. While I love to follow the rules in order to keep a balanced feeling to the game, I will always vote for Rule of Cool if it means that everyone involved is having more fun. My personal guideline is when the rules are ambigous, rule in favor of the players.

Safety

How Kai creates a safe table

Session 0 will cover my plans and ideas for the campaign and what my players can expect from me as a dm. It will also be an opportunity to fill out consent checklists and players to talk openly about how they might play a character, ie murderhobo or violent ect. It also allows me to set boundaries and guidelines for players to ensure everyone has fun at the table.
