About the adventure

The Green… forgives you… But you are the last that shall be forgiven this day, and a city awaits my judgment.” — Alan Moore, SWAMP THING #52 When the nation of Taldor was born, united in the shadow of the Verduran Forest, this wilderness was seen as a venerable frontier. But as the land was conquered, nature was less awe inspiring. It became a resource — something to be picked apart, destroyed, and replaced by civilization. Ostensibly, there is peace in Taldor: the Treaty of the Wildwood promised that the forest would offer woodcutters a bountiful harvest in exchange for oversight, protection, and conservation. But, as these things always seem to happen, the treaty benefitted the reapers more than the sowers. Humans, beasts, and fey gather at the Wildwood Lodge. On the surface, there is to be a celebration of peace — the Greenwood Gala. It’s an opportunity to resolve old grudges, to reestablish the collaboration between untamed wilds and industrial progress. Blood has been spilled. Peacemakers slain in full view. Gameplay details
The content warnings detailed here list items that are likely to appear in the game. This is not a complete list of sensitive content that might arise in-session. Part of our Session 0 will involve discussing players’ comfort levels with potentially triggering subjects, and the game can be altered to minimize or avoid certain elements. Players who join mid-campaign should discuss these topics with the GM during weekly office hours. Certain themes are so central to the text that to remove them from the game would be to fundamentally alter the campaign. As an adventure taking place in the wilderness, player characters will face natural threats such as wildfires and honeybee attacks. The inciting incident of this adventure is a violent attack which slays several NPCs and leads to a regional war. Tabletop role-playing games are meant to be an escape from the horrors of the real world. Above-table prejudices such as racism, misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia are unacceptable at my table and will lead to your immediate removal without refund, as well as a ban from all future tables hosted by this GM.
